Homeland Security Trains Scouts To Fight Terrorism

The Department of Homeland Security is training teenage scouts how to conduct armed raids on terrorists and drug dealers.

In a program which officials have described as "about being a true-blooded American", boys and girls as young as fourteen are being put through their paces by DHS Border Patrol agents.

The New York Times Reports:

The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional jobs as police officers and firefighters.

[...]

The training, which leaders say is not intended to be applied outside the simulated Explorer setting, can involve chasing down illegal border crossers as well as more dangerous situations that include facing down terrorists and taking out “active shooters,” like those who bring gunfire and death to college campuses.

Some youngsters have described the program as enjoyable due to the fact that they get to shoot guns and learn about discipline.

Eyebrows will be raised over the nature of the role play situation however, due to the fact that in at least one instance the "terrorist" to be neutralized was described as a "disgruntled Iraq war veteran".

Nazi Youth are always used to kill elder cops and soldiers. Young and dumb make the best cannon fodder for the Nazi NWO meeting in secret at Bilderberg this week.

Dude, I already addressed this, you weenie.

And just as an act of irony, the local GSA branches are contemplating a "civil disobediance" badge.

THAT has the potential to be downright hilarious, especially since at least one of the freakin Astaru has a daughter who's in it, and would be quite glad to show them his concept of "civil disobedience"... *twitch*

Did I mention he's 6'6" 265lbs and looks like he walked out of a bad viking movie ?

Karma.

IApprentice programs are great for kids, even as cops and soldiers. That's what football is.

But to have them on Search and Destroy missions to kill veterans in their homes, that's just whacked.

Unfortunately, 99.9% of what cops really do is sue traffic tickets.

So this Explorer program is just a recruiting tool, like the govt-run military high schools in USA and UK. Young and dumb, that's how They like em. Butt-rape is just a bonus.

Looks like an Airsoft (or Airsoft clone) MP-5. The orange muzzle is kinda a giveaway. At least they're correctly keeping their fingers off the triggers.

Thanks, Geezer. Sheesh, I was hoping PN would know a little more about his weaponry than to be taken in that easily...

You're right. Airsoft pellet guns. Pretty good training tools, too.

Whatever teaches proper gun-handling skills and trigger discipline.

Hell, I'm all for the idea of teaching kids not to view the firearm as an object of irrational fear. I wish like hell that they would've had a propgram like this when I was a Boy Scout. All we got were single-shot .22's.

One of my best friends learned to shoot in the Boy Scouts, and it's to my great chagrin that he's a better shot with my rifle than I am! But I get even with him by being a better shot with his Glock .45 than he is. :)

I don't have a problem with programs to teach kids gun safety and responsible shooting. I am a bit disturbed by programs teaching them SWAT tactics, though...

On the flipside of that, I wonder how many of the larger gangs are sending young members to join the military to get some real-world training (and maybe to get an inside line on military-grade weaponry...). If they aren't doing it, they'd be fools not to try.

Well, the thing I look at in this is that most of these kids in the Explorer program have at least some interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement. With that in mind, I don't so much mind their learning those kind of tactics, based on A) they might come in handy if they do opt for a career there, and B) they learn that all that TV BS is just that-BS.
Getting a taste, just a taste mind you, of the real thing can make the difference in how they approach the job.

I've seen too many kids out of the stockroom at Fred's or Walmart strap on a gun and badge, and think it A) made them bulletproof, and B) worse, made them THE LAW. Neither of which is true.

Maybe this program, in the long run, can eliminate some of that.

Don't bet on it, BK - it's being taught by the same kind of might-is-right hoo-rah rocket jocks all too willing to crush your face in the gutter with their boot cause they're THE LAW, and you're just a perp waiting to happen.

Seriously, if you saw the level of mental and political indoctrination they've carefully avoided mentioning here - you'd be as revolted about it as I am.

It's the nature of the business when you give authoritarian folk extreme amounts of power with no proper oversight or check against abuses, that things will go that way, and certain folk will gravitate to positions that feed their inner need to lord over and abuse people to silence their inner demons.

Sure, the story is they'll only be used against terrorists and enemies of the state - which alone should give you pause, but you remember me pointing out from the very beginning that the ADS pain ray was NEVER intended for use against anyone else but us unruly peons, right ?

Note that the Dirty 3rd on domestic detail is the only unit they're shipping them to.

They're not being trained to do that to terrorists, they're being trained to do that to US.

And that, fellowman, is what bothers me so.

I see your concern Frem. Down here, we train our kids like that ourselves, and I guess I tend to assume that others do that as well. That's something I need to stop doing.

I'm not that familiar with the explorer program, to be honest. The few we've had around here have been in ones and twos, we're such a small community

As I read the article though, I think it mentioned that most of this was being done out west, including in the People's Republic of California. Nothing from there surprises me anymore. I'm sure it's happening in some of the larger cities in the east as well?

I'm usually inclined to give an officer the benefit of the doubt, until he proves he doesnt' deserve it, having served myself. Once he'd proven he DOESN'T deserve it, then I start watching him or her very closely indeed.

In the end, that's really all we can do, I suppose. Usually when I see one around here that's a little 'too' gung ho, I try to have a quite word with the Sheriff, or his Chief, about that individual. If the doesn't work, then I start complaining about him or her. Loudly.

One thing I've learned is that politicians hate bad publicity, lol. And a camcorder works wonders with attitude later on. The thing we, as a people, have to remember, the way I see it, is that if we don't stand up for ourselves, someone will always be walking on us.

As always, thats just me.
