"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die."
-Roy, Blade Runner

We've seen supernovas before. I'm not overly concerned.

Wattage of stars falls off at distance squared, so we'd only be exposed to a very small percentage of the possible power of the explosion.

Allegedly supernova is what whiped out humans and mammoths in N America 30,000 years ago. It packs a 1/2 punch with literally micro iron bullets plus deadly radiation.

Interesting, but it seems like there's a lot of coincidences to have to come together for a supernova to have been the cause.

People have found evidence of high pressure shock metamorphism around 13,000 years ago, so I agree there could have been an impact. But iron and potassium 40 rich feldspar IS found in our solar system. Supernova speed matter impacting earth, big enough to spread spherules over a wide area? I really think you'd see signs of damage over more than just North America, and associated extinctions with the other potential impacts listed.

X-rays and seismic data of the interior of the earth are notoriously difficult to interpret, especially as you get deeper. I think something local with a high concentration is more likely.
