It is not the military, it is industry doing things the military had no idea about.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out

Oh hey, you found the new thread button. :) Yeah, site takes some getting used to, but it makes an intuitive kinda sense once you figure it out.

Heard about that, and yes, nuts. Ideology and religion have their zealots. Both together are scarily effective, because when your country is chosen by God... Well... That doesn't say much for your supposedly inhuman demonic opposition.

Ditto, on both counts.

Thank's for the catch Gino. Guess I was thinking about the entire military/industrial complex situation, but did not clarify very well.

I'm really not positive that the military and industry are two separate things, hence the term military/industrial complex.

Ask Frem what he thinks about General McChrystal's motives for Afghanistan and Iraq some time, he's usually good for references proofs and cites. I think your initial impression of this as a Crusade is right on, and I bet that not only will the Military NOT discard their inscribed parts, but that they'll continue to use the same suppliers.

Probably won't discard them since, from what I've read, the troops in the field really like the ACOG sights (around $1,500.00 each, civilian retail). Pulling them would degrade the troops' efficiency and endanger their lives. The military might order a new version without the Bible verse reference in the model number, but the ones out there now are most likely gonna stay. A little work with a Dremel tool could remove the offending letters.
