This just kills me:
Quote:

An MSNBC host has taken a full page ad out Friday in The Boston Globe slamming Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts.

Rachel Maddow accuses the senator of making things up, and smearing her to raise money and, essentially, insulting Massachusetts.

In the ad, Maddow, who lives in Massachusetts, criticizes Brown for a fundraising e-mail that he sent out this week where he suggests she might challenge him in 2012.

"efore I've even settled into my new job, the political machine in Massachusetts is looking for someone to run against me," Brown wrote supporters. "And you're not going to believe who they are supposedly trying to recruit – liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow."

Brown's e-mail then takes a shot at the cable news host. "I just don't think America can afford her liberal policies," he said.

Brown cited an obscure Boston-area blog post from March 5 as the source of the Maddow rumors.

Firing back, Maddow wrote in her ad, which she also posted on her blog that Brown, "made that up."

"I'm not running against Scott Brown," Maddow wrote. "I never said I was running against Scott Brown. The Massachusetts Democratic Party never asked me to run against Scott Brown."

"It's just not true. Honestly. I swear." The cable news host added that Brown "never even tried to find out if it was true."

Instead, Maddow claimed Brown is smearing one of his constituents to "scare donors into giving him more money." Maddow said, to her, that feels like Brown is insulting Massachusetts.

Brown won his seat in a January special election to fill the remaining three years of the late Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy. But he must face voters again, in 2012, to win a full term.

The Dems fabricate FEAR after the recent vote, with their willing accomplices, the media.

After fanning the flames of idiot discontent, did anyone ever hear any retractions or corrections by either the media OR the Dems ?

No?

Really, you are never going to convince Repubs that Repubs play on fear more than Dems. At times, it's tempting to use the same tactics as the Repubs, except that Dems tend not to run as scared as right-wingers.

That's because it's not even remotely true. Look at the hyper over reaction we saw on the news over the so called 'threats'....

Conservatives get death threats routinely, and they don't go whining to the media and have press conferences over it. The national networks don't breathlessly lead their shows with 'breaking news' over harassing letters sent to Michelle Bachmann, or talk show hosts, like Boortz or Limbaugh. Hell, it's almost routine.

And lets not overlook the non stop threats sent, by the Left to Stupak ...

Quote:

Now, the infamous Bart Stupak is getting in on the act. Stupak has released a series of offensive voicemails he received after abandoning his "principled" stand against public abortion funding in the health care bill. The contents of these messages are, indeed, venomous and totally inappropriate. The media is eagerly circulating the audio because it fuels their "look out, the crazy wingnuts are gettin' dangerous" narrative.

Curiously, Stupak chose not to make public any of the harassing calls and threats leveled against him waaayyy back when he was still seen as a major obstacle to Obamacare's passage. Even after one report emerged that Stupak was facing relentless intimidation from the Left, there were no breathless bulletins, no public hand-wringing, no front page headlines. Curiouser. Indeed, mere days before his epic cave-job, The Hill reported how Stupak's life had become a "living hell"

Well, unless they're Eric Cantor. Or Karl Rove, who went on TV to proclaim that the only reason Democrats were talking about death threats was to get sympathy and attention - and then went into EXPLICIT detail about the death threats he's gotten, a clear ploy on his part to gain sympathy and attention, according to him.

Boehner was talking about the disastrous bill which was signed, and not the phony, trumped up hysteria that the Left ( and the MSM ) were screaming about, at every turn. But way to stay off topic, per usual.

And way to miss the point entirely, per usual. Boehner's reaction was EXACTLY the phony, trumped-up hysteria you constantly accuse the left (and the MSM) of. Obama got some pretty good laughs at Boehner's expense on that one, too. "Armageddon? I looked around; it was a pretty nice day!"

No, not exactly. I said it's possible the shouter, in the midst of being overly animated, may have 'sprayed' Cleaver, who walked directly in front of him, but there wasn't any indication that he 'spit' on the Congressman, or that did anything which was premeditated. I don't even know if the man in the hat SAW Cleaver until he was directly in front of him.

See, it's this sort of intentional distortion and misrepresentation of what others say and post on here that makes honest and sincere debate nearly impossible. I never "admitted " any such thing, and yet you felt perfectly fine to lie about my view on this matter.

At least man up and admit that much. I feel I made my view on the matter very clear.

And as for fundraising, there's no 'fear mongering' in trying to raise awareness and there by support for your side by reporting the truth. Hell, at least the GOP isn't spreading lies and true fear, like the NAACP did , back in 2000.....

Quote:

Things got ugly early between the NAACP and Bush the candidate in 2000, when the group ran an anti-Bush ad featuring the daughter of James Byrd Jr., a black Texas man who was tied to a pickup truck and dragged to his death by three white men.

( the ad failed to mention that 2 of the three men were sentenced to death, the 3rd got a life sentence )

and this.....
Quote:

-- the Missouri Democratic Party ran this radio ad: "When you don't vote, you let another church explode. When you don't vote, you allow another cross to burn. When you don't vote, you let another assault wound a brother or sister. When you don't vote, you let the Republicans continue to cut school lunches and Head Start.

But it's the GOP you want to call out for " fear mongering "

wow.

Actually, it's not a misrepresentation at all. YOU said "say it, don't SPRAY IT." What were you implying was sprayed, if not spit? When you say, "Say it, don't spray it," to what does that generally refer? WHAT came out of his mouth and hit the Congressman?

Now, you can SAY that maybe he didn't mean to, maybe he didn't even see Cleaver there - but you can't KNOW any of that. What you CAN know is that spit flew from his mouth and hit the Congressman. At least man up and admit that much.

As for the rest, way to dodge. Hell, I'm just pointing out to you what the Republican National Party is saying it is using for fund-raising and issue awareness, and THEY are the ones who point out that FEAR is one of their best weapons. I didn't write that book, it's not a Democrat "plant" as you seem to think everything that damns your already damnable party is; it's their own presentation.

But you won't even address that issue, will you? Too close to home for ya?

Now, you're big on not wanting all your tea-bagging buddies tarred with the same racist brush, and you insist that it's only a few bad apples - yet you're all too happy to try to tar all Democrats and all liberals with the actions of a few - or even of "The One", aren't you?

So spare us all your righteous indignation. We already know how you really feel about black people; you've made it plainly evident time and again. To try to backtrack now is just pitiful. Might as well man up and admit it, and own your hate.

That's not a bad point, but I think Maddow's got far more power doing what she's doing now. And obviously the right agrees with that assessment, which is why they want her to drop her show(s) and run against Brown. And I kinda wish she would, because I think she'd take him. Hell, if Al Franken could take that dipshit Norm Coleman, I'm betting Rachel would annihilate Brown. But I'd rather have her right where she is, where she can do more good.

“Be careful what you wish for – the right to bear arms means that everyone can bear arms.”

“We will be fighting you to the death.”

“I’m so glad that I saw Rachel Maddow. She’s brilliant. She’s absolutely fantastic. And her diagnosis of the ills of the American right are so right on. I mean, basically, what you’re doing is just saying no. You’re like belligerent children. You have no concept of how hard people have worked to get this together, and to make sure that we win. We WILL win, and will continue. That’s why Obama got elected.”

“We are now organized. We will show up at your town meetings, and your town halls, and trust me, it’s a force to be reckoned with.”

Sounds pretty threatening to me… but will Rachel condemn this? I’m sure she won’t. How about any of these phone calls, posted back in August?

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Damn, catching up again. And grumpy (long story). Going back to where I left off:

Yeah, Sig, I know; the best defense is an offense, and they’ll never admit, no matter what the facts, that it’s the Republicans who are best at the fear thing. Eh.

What gets me is that Crappy’s post has NOTHING to do with the thread, and that issue is being discussed all over the board...why invade this thread? (rhetorical question) Why is anyone responding to him? This tactic is pure, predictable idiocy and taunting, and has nothing to do with reality. Typical dust storm, of no interest.

Cuda; the pic you put up is from her fake “ad” satirizing the situation; it’s a joke, but you know that. I’d post the real thing, but it’s not worth it.

I don’t know why in hell (except that he’s a shit disturber!) Mike even wants to get INTO it with the dust bunny; he DID say he thought it was an unintentional spray, so there’s an end to that. Nonetheless, I saw the memo from the GOP too, and anyone who’s fair knows it’s the Repub tactic—served them great the last eight years.

On top of which, another tactic is the good old offense is a good defense. I almost couldn’t believe both Boehner and Cantor coming out and blaming the DEMS for fomenting violence, given they’ve been doing it for eight years and now again (and worse) for another two. Of course I COULD believe it, but it’s astonishing nonetheless. And transparent as hell.
Quote:

And as for fundraising, there's no 'fear mongering' in trying to raise awareness and there by support for your side by reporting the truth.
THAT is the biggest laugh I’ve had yet this morning, and purely a lie. There was no debunking; aside from swinging to the NAACP for “verification”, when it has nothing to do with them, is evading, nothing more.

I agree with everything Mike said about Maddow running. First off, she has NO desire to do so, she’s just pissed they’re using her to get donations, as they ADMIT they are using the “repeal” and the lawsuits. They admit it; it’s true; and they’ve admitted it fires people up. I’ll post cites if anyone needs them, I saw it come out of their own mouths. Actually, she does have more power. We’ve seen exactly how much “power” there can be, even with majorities in Congress and a President...she digs for the facts and opens them up for people, and we need that.

At no time has she ever incited violence, that I can guarantee. She dealt honestly and sarcastically with them using her for scare tactics and good gawd, if the Repubs can’t be held to account for ALL the things they’ve said, and denying them is idiotic given how long it’s gone on and how they’ve been riling up their base all ALONG. She’s a TV commentator; so if you want, ignore FauxNews’ scare tactics and how they’ve been fomenting dissent, but the Republican politicians themselves have done so. End of story.

Damn, and here I popped into this expecting some debate, and all I find is nitpicking and slamming back and forth between people who wouldn’t admit the truth if a Repub stood up in Congress and shouted “we’re gonna kill you!” I get all the way to the bottom and that's all I find. What a waste of time; I’m not wasting any more of mine—surely somewhere there’s a decent discussion going on!
