So, anyone who opposes the expansion of big gov't ,control of our lives, massive debt on top of massive debt,.... is labelled as promoting 'fear' now ?

Classic demonizing. You can no longer have a reasoned, substantive disagreement with - ANYTHING, as long as that idea is shrouded in the veil of 'Hope'. What ever associates itself w/ virtue and good intentions first, gets dibs on any public perception....never mind the pesky details.

The Left views others as they really are.

When it comes to violent protests and angry mobs, the Left has cornered the market. They're pros at that sort of stuff, and have been doing it nearly continiously now for over 40 years. Now that they're in complete control of the Gov't, it's time to crank up the spin machine, and paint anyone who opposes them as 'extremist', when it's they themselves who are the extremists.

But then I think folk *should* fear Authoritarianism, be it from the left or the right, cause of itself it's bloody dangerous in much the same fashion, and for much the same reasons, as a rabid dog is - and the recommended treatment for it is IMHO, very much the same.

Still, that was damn funny.

Also, ironic to see this just after a longish discussion of Robespierre and just how similar his methodology is to mine.

If you let him speak, he'd own your ass, the one time he fumbled and choked it is what killed him, as much as anything else - the local PD jokes that if they ever have to arrest me they're puttin a gag on before the cuffs, heh.

But make no mistake, good intentions or not, Robespierre WAS the guy responsible for the Reign of Terror, and I pointed out this was the *exact* reason that while my advice is useful, I would never, EVER want to be in charge, nor should anyone with half a brain allow that, cause for damn sure anyone of this nature will enact a purge the instant they have the power to do so, a veritable scourging of those they see as a social threat, and it will consume them utterly.

I ain't *stupid* enough to put foot on that path, having the wisdom to learn from the mistakes of others as well as my own, and most of my associates are in no doubt that much of my personal methodology is needlessly barbaric, a check and balance I put there quite deliberately for this very reason.

Nah, I'll let someone ELSE forment a purge and destroy themselves while obliterating the Authoritarians and making those that remain tremble in fear for the rest of their existence, until the word becomes all but synonymous with Nazi - let THEM take historys bad rap and all the consequences while I stand there grinnin, and selling the pitchforks and torches, oh indeed.

There's also the problem of the fact that it doesn't work - it may well be a long term solution in that it eliminated most of the sponsorship behind that born better/born bad, people-are-evil-and-need-to-be-controlled idiocy, I mean after all, Robespierre *was* a big fan of the works of Rosseau - but it is not a permanent solution because by failing to address the root of the problem, it's cause and creation, all you're really doing is pruning back the branches.

So sure, he may have temporarily abated the problem, but at a tremendous cost to the people and the social fabric of the era, but ultimately he failed because he failed to address the true cause, the creation of the screwed up people, without which, these problems never manifest to begin with.

Reading Rosseau without reading Kropotkin and (Alice) Miller is only getting half the story, and without consulting Doc Perrys work you can't even understand the how and why.

Besides being, yanno, batshit crazy, which you kinda have to be to even ponder things that far outside of current/conventional society and it's operational models, Robespierre fucked it up by coming at it from the wrong end, hackin the branches instead of striking the root.

That, and they put him in charge, which is something you never, EVER do no matter HOW good their great grand plan sounds - and no matter who they are, look at how badly the biblical prophets bollixed it up when THEY were in charge, neh ?
