Taxation WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

Though, I don't think any of them anticipated this level of taxation. The anti-federalists wanted very strongly to guard against such abuses of the system.

Also, it's likely "representation" is a stretch, if not outright damn lie. Yes, the American people elected them, but I don't see how we had any choice. The election process seems like a big scam to me, no matter who wins. The American public always loses.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I agree in general, tho', I don't know; didn't the upper-income folk get great "representation" with those two Dumbya tax cuts? Seems to me they'd be happy as little clams with their representation. More representation, less taxation. Looks like a good deal to ME!

Religious Right did pretty good, too, tho' not as good as they expected. They got quite a few bills passed, executive orders and other things opening up more religion in schools, anti-abortion stuff, etc. I'd say, all in all, they got pretty well represented.

Big business, too, especially the banks and financial institutions, did pretty well for eight years, what with deregulation, etc. THEY ended up with pretty good representation and less taxation, too...

So a FEW of "us" get represented pretty damned well. For the rest of us, tho', you're right; we get the shaft. We need more viable choices (ha!).

By the way, at least he CAN put two words together that make a sentence, which hasn't been the case for eight years. And he can pronounce "nuclear"...

Oh, I agree, but I don't even think TPTB (who are basically who is ACTUALLY represented) even end up doing things in their own interests. As smart, cunning, and manipulative as they are, they seem to think they can push the limits of our economic system forever. No, eventually it WILL break, and crash, hard.

As much as I hate anything that helps the bastards, I'd actually prefer to not see that happen, because the public would get hit even worse. This is why self-sufficient communes, like you've mentioned before, are so vital a defense. Once the general public can withstand the tumult, THEN you can go after TPTB.

The one place that I'll disagree is that the religious right is represented... I'm pretty sure that's all lip-service, intended to manipulate honest people who do believe. Unfortunately, their beliefs and desire to ally themselves with others who believe make them vulnerable to exploitation.
