Been doing a lot of dead skin removal while waiting for the keyboard to dry. I got the cast off my foot tonight, and for the first time in 6+ weeks I have access to my own toes. Woo-hoo!

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

Okay. This thread has been going long enough so that I can say that I originally thought it was a PN thread, and was wondering why the "Tennessee Mother Ship's Adopted Son" went "Back to Moscow Alone".

"Keep the Shiny side up"

It sounds like you're saying Byte had feelings because of the discussion of RAD, and that attempts to be compassionate and help manifest in rage. Could you clarify that?

Well, I can try.

One reason I call it the "Dark" Spark is because there *is* a certain darkness to it, our first reaction to abuse isn't help the victim - it's to hospitalize the abuser, feed THEM the bitter pill they've been handing out so blithely even if we gotta ram it down their throat with a bayonet.

In a way that is rooted in compassion, quickest way to stop it - crush the source, and deliver vengeance at the same time, seriously, what decent person *hasn't* wanted to jack up an abuser and just beat the everliving crap out of them, neh ?

Problem is, with us that borders on a berserk compulsion, a kill-frenzy reflex that if allowed to run wild, is one of the most destructive, most evil things in all of creation - Carl Panzram is an example of the extreme to which such a thing can go, the man spent his entire life taking revenge on mankind itself at every opportunity, and it consumed him utterly.

And yeah, there's an addictive quality to it, cause when you DO deliver that kinda thing unto a camp stooge, abuser or abuse enabler, there's not only a cathartic release, but also the satisfaction of delivering some small part of the pain back unto them, unburdened by guilt or restraint, that siren song singing in your head - "So, how do YOU like it, fucker ?!"

And yet, like any addictive substance, it's also poisonous, ruinous to the user, and only a temporary solution to a very long term problem.

But yes, the root of it is compassion, because what lights the fuse isn't the abusive conduct, it's the victims helpless look, anguished cries, that strike a soul deep echo, and in combination with a world that either stands by and pretends not to see, or even cheers and applauds, cause a chain reaction of dark emotions combined with a hyperfocus and driving complusion to act which trying to put a leash on and even think clearly when the red blood madness descends isn't easy.

On the other hand, there is a certain trump-card threat value in "negotiating" with these bastards, having someone present who they know, without a shadow of a doubt, is getting damn near preorgasmic at the thought of being allowed to beat them within an inch of their lives, who's emotionally FEEDING on their fear - the folks that profit from this crap might not understand or care about the reasons or causes, but force, that is a language they understand, a dance of dominance that's part of the Authoritarian mindset, and my presence kinda dynamites the pond, so we play on that for what we can get out of it.

Anyhows, while the root of the trigger is compassion, like so many other things rooted in the best of intentions, cutting that monster loose is just layin pavement on the road to hell.

I hope I didn't step on any toes. I only know what I've seen, heard and read, and I DEFINITELY think each person is different and should be recognized for such.

Nah, you didn't - what I was describing, in a stream of consciousness kinda way that's prettymuch impossible to fake, was the internal monologue that was driving Byte into a frenzy, just to show that someone, somewhere, actually does know and understand, cause that kinda thing is important, just knowing that can be very helpful to someone dealing with stresses they can hardly explain.

I too read voraciously as a child - because of my fathers influence, before my actions sent him packing, I was as silent and quiet as a ghost for a long time after, and learned to read before I had fully developed speech, which is why I pronounce words as-written instead of as-spoken, but I do have a tremendous appetite for reading, in print, online, information is power, and often good entertainment as well - my mother knew that all she had to do to keep me occupied a while was hand me a book, and I'd be gone somewhere for hours, hehehe.

Had a Waldenbooks clear once ask me if I was reading them, or eating them, since when I DO get around to buying another batch, I usually have a list, and a long one, to where I'd have to bring someone else to help carry em all.
Nowadays though, the quality has gone terribly downhill alas, just one more symptom of a society that has gone stagnant by crushing all the hopes and dreams out of their own children.
