but, according to Kwick here... some assclown overlording a FAILED country should be able to come to OUR center of government and lecture us on how to do things.

The best part, the most HIlarious part of this? The Dems stood up and cheered! Isn't that great?

Isn't that just PERFECT?

Isn't that EXACTLY what we've been doing for years, all around the world? Telling people how to govern, how to act, telling them what to do? And our own country IS a piece of shit (as you put it), it IS a failed country.

You just don't like it when some other jackass comes into your house and acts like exactly the jackass you acted like in his house. As usual, Wulfie here likes rules for other people, but wants NO rules for him. It'd be cute, if he weren't so goddamned stupid about it.

I would argue that they did make England better. They turned the best part of England into the United States...I urge Mexico to try the same thing, go home and become the United States, I'll even loan you some Texans and a Crockett or two to show you how its done.

You simpleton, that IS what they're doing! They're turning the southwestern part of the United States (what some would call "the best part" of the U.S.) into Mexico. You should cheer them on! They're freedom fighters! Y'know, just not YOUR freedom. Theirs. They should be applauded.

And you're going to loan them some Texans and a Crockett to show them... what, exactly? How to die?

It's not his fault, Byte. He's a lawyer. He doesn't know what a soul is; he just knows he sold his, long ago, cheap.

And he's really not very bright. You know that imbecilic government that "Hero" here insists can't do anything right? The one that gets everything wrong, and only exists to suck off the taxpayers' teat? Yeah, he works for that government. As a low-level civil servant, according to him.

If you are correct then they should be killed, not deported.

Unlike you I assume they are coming here looking for a better life and I appreciate that. If this were a hundred years ago I'd be all for it. Tired, poor yearning for KFC. But its the 21st Century and we have to control immigration and limit it to balance the benefit of the influx of new citizens to the cost in terms of limited State resources. However, there is no reason they could not have made their own country better by staying home and making it happen.

No. To show them how to live. The reason why Crockett and the Texians at the Alamo stand out is not how they died...its how they lived.

I like to think of myself as mid-level, I even have a key to the City...or at least the City building.

And its 'civil servant', meaning I serve the community. I love my job, hell if it paid the rent I'd do it for free. You don't like the job I'm doing, go vote my boss out of office. Course he did win last year by his biggest margin ever.

I go to work every day with two goals...try and help folks as best I can, try and put the bad guys in jail.

I also googled Human Cannonball death statistics, and the first entry estimated it at about 50%.

So even if you have the knack for the aerial acrobatics involved, and your weight is in the correct range, and you spend lots of time in the gym strengthening your knees and back, and the TIMING IS PERFECT, and you don't miss, you have a 50% survival rate.

I didn't hear you mention a safety net, and anything that could fire someone from one state into another, just the acceleration could kill them.

As I said, my responsibility ends at the border, when they cross they are alive and uninjured...its Mexico's responsibility to make sure they stay that way. My company is perfectly willing to work with Mexico to ensure everyone has a soft landing.

For a modest fee immigrants can purchase a single-use parachute made from recycled Census forms.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

What I know will happen is already happening and has happened many times in the past. Any who say it isn't racial profiling are being either deliberately disingenuous or naive:
Quote:

The incident at issue occurred during the MCSO's February raid of county contractor Handyman Maintenance, Inc. Both Julian Mora, 66, and his son Julio,19, were driving towards HMI in Phoenix when two MCSO SUVs cut them off 100 yards from the business where the elder Mora worked. MCSO deputies zip-tied both men, transported them to the worksite and made them wait for three hours, during which time they were denied access to the bathroom.

Julio Mora is an American citizen, and his father Julian is a legal permanent resident. Both live in Avondale.

"Julian explained that he has always been one to follow the law," stated ACLU of Arizona Executive Director Alessandra Soler Meetze, translating for Mora senior. "He felt targeted. He felt persecuted, He felt humiliated."

His son Julio, who was at the press conference with his wife Victoria and their two-month-old daughter Cecilia, said that he's still wary of the MCSO profiling him or targeting him for possible retaliation.

"Every time you go to a friend's house, you've got to look over your shoulder," said Julio, who was simply taking his father to work that day in February when they were both unlawfully detained. "I don't feel right looking over my shoulder all the time."

The Moras were effectively taken prisoner by armed MCSO personnel without any explanation for their arrest.

Gee, what law do you think THEY broke to provide "reasonable suspicion"?
Quote:

Virdianna Ramirez a manager of a McDonalds and an American-born citizen was taken into custody with others who were suspected of being illegal immigrants. She was released four hours later and not charged with anything. Authorities claim it was a misunderstanding.
Quote:

A Valley man was pulled over Wednesday morning and questioned when he arrived at a weigh station for his commercial vehicle along Val Vista and the 202 freeway.

Abdon says he provided several key pieces of information but what he provided apparently was not what was needed.

He tells 3TV, “I don't think it's correct, if I have to take my birth certificate with me all the time.”

His wife Jackie tells 3TV, “It's still something awful to be targeted. I can't even imagine what he felt, people watching like he was some type of criminal.”

Abdon was told he did not have enough paperwork on him when he pulled into a weigh station to have his commercial truck checked. He provided his commercial driver’s license and a social security number but ended up handcuffed.

An agent called his wife and she had to leave work to drive home and grab other documents like his birth certificate.

Jackie explains, “I have his social security card as well and mine. He's legit. It's the first time it's ever happened.”

Both were born in the United States and say they are now both infuriated that keeping important documents safely at home is no longer an option.

Jackie says, “It doesn't feel like it's a good way of life, to live with fear, even though we are okay, we are legal…still have to carry documents around.”

I wonder what 'law' he broke for the police to ask for his papers?? So much for your "probable cause" and "reasonable suspicion". What the law states does not make it so in reality. These instances are not unique, by a long shot--and these were all BEFORE SB 1070!

Then there are the policemen against it, and for good reasons:
Quote:

Today, Cuentame — a project of Brave New Films — posted a video interview with Phoenix police officer Paul Dobson’s reaction to Arizona’s new immigration law, SB-1070. In Cuentame’s video, Dobson expresses his own opposition to the law and how he believes it will affect his ability to fulfill his duties:
Quote:

This [SB-1070] law will make me feel like a Nazi out there. [...] How I feel about SB-1070 is I have a great deal of contempt for it, I am very emotional about it. This law is pure and simple a racist law. It is focused on Latinos. I would not be able to show any discretion whatsoever under SB-1070. I am required to arrest that person and take them to jail. As a law enforcement officer I am required to serve and protect. Under SB-1070, I know that people will not call officers in case of a real emergency. [...] It violates our calling to serve and protect.
Dobson isn’t the only officer on the Phoenix police force that is against SB-1070. David Salgado is a 19-year Phoenix police officer who has sued the city and the governor asking that the law be blocked. “Before the signing of this bill, citizens would wave at me,” said Salgado. “Now they don’t even want to make eye contact.” Tucson police officer Martin Escobar has also filed a lawsuit, saying there is no such thing as “race-neutral” criteria for him to determine “reasonable suspicion” that someone is in the country illegally.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AAOP) has said SB-1070 is “problematic and will negatively affect the ability of law enforcement agencies across the state to fulfill their many responsibilities in a timely manner.” The president of the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police — an association of sworn law enforcement officers — has also expressed concerns that the bill “will bankrupt our city.” “What’s going to happen is you’re going to fear the police…they’re [immigrants] going to shy away from us instead of coming forward with information,” stated Sgt. Bryan Soller in a local interview.

Well, I see Mike already made my point for me, but I'd still like a response, since none was forthcoming to HIS question:
Quote:

His entire point seems to be to lecture someone about how we won't be lectured to
Quote:

NOONE comes into your home and tell you how to run things. ESPECIALLY, if THEIR home is a piece of shit...

But silly me for declaring U.S. sovereignty...

Yeah, its OUR home, its our rules, its our way of life...

but, according to Kwick here... some assclown overlording a FAILED country should be able to come to OUR center of government and lecture us on how to do things.

So it’s okay for America to lecture to Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, Russia etc., etc., ad infinitum, but not for others to lecture US? ‘Cuz we’re the Great and Mighty United States of America? Gooood logic! Please explain how it's okay for us to lecture other countries (not to mention invading them, backing sanctions, etc., to back up those lectures but not okay for others to lecture us.

Sauce for the goose, guys, let's get real. Politicians in Congress don't have to get real, just pander to the public, we all know that.

By the way, the polls mentioned? I posted/cited them elsewhere, and it turns out the numbers change depending on how MUCH people asked know about the law itself. Differ considerably. So yes, it does matter how the poll is conducted.

To quote someone here:
Quote:

And that's the sum total of your argument. You can't offer up any substantive, reasonable reply, other than dole out insults and dismissive, personal comments.
The question is a valid one; if you can't answer it validly, you might want to spend your time elsewhere. Snarks have no effect on me, I was asking a question of those who feel it's okay to lecture the rest of the world, but not okay for anyone in the rest of the world to lecture US. Apparently you have some difficulty understanding the question, which had nothing to do with "policy".

Oh, wait, here's a better one:
Quote:

Why not just answer the question, and stop trying to change the subject or hurl mindless, petty insults ?

Oh, wait, I see you were "responding" to my first post. Okay: The same reply, given my post had NOTHING to do with making policy. It was direct quotes of what has already happened many times, and which will no doubt happen MORE given the wording of the law is that police MUST question potential illegal aliens.

So your response, still, is a non-response. I quoted the very police who recognize the reality of what the law will cause to happen, so if you want to snark about policy, talk to THEM.

I guess in this case this one IS the better quote:
Quote:

And that's the sum total of your argument. You can't offer up any substantive, reasonable reply, other than dole out insults and dismissive, personal comments.
