Hello,

I am sorry that this flight attendant was treated rudely by a passenger, but I do not see any way that he can hope to have his job back. Attendants are expected to maintain their cool even under extreme conditions. This attendant failed to do so, and that failure took as theatrical a form as might be imagined.

Who knows what combination of personal and professional factors brought this attendant so close to the edge of reason? We all have our moments when our emotions and concerns put us at the raggedy edge.

That having been said, there are few ways to more clearly demonstrate one's unsuitability for a job than by doing what this man did. Perhaps he was once an ideal flight attendant. He worked in the industry for 20 years. But who can trust that he won't have another emotional breakdown over a relatively minor incident? If they give him his job back, I'll be very surprised.

They may want to hold off on any movie deal, some passengers are saying that he had that cut on his head at the begining of the flight, they're also saying he was also being an asshole from the begining of the flight. So they may want to wait for the whole story before they start casting his TV bio, "Take this job and shove it Jet Blue!" Some are saying he smelled of beer from take off, this guy may crash & burn. (pun)

Yup, me too. The "hero" part of it comes from anyone who's ever had to work with the general public, and the frustrations dealt with when you're telling stupid people for the umpteenth time to NOT do that, and they still go ahead and do that, and of course then it's all your fault when it goes to shit.

So on that score, I like this guy. He said "Fuck you, I'm out!", grabbed a couple brews on the way out, popped the slide and motored. I think it's a little bit hilarious and a little bit subversive.

He shouldn't be a flight attendant anymore, though. He might have better luck doing instructional videos for passengers, on what to do and what NOT to do on your flight. 'Cause I have a feeling some people might just listen to him now! :D
