Best of Craig's List
Funniest thing I've read in a long time.

Dang, now I want a cello. And a large boat. But I definitely DO NOT WANT any Pringles.

Olestra is nasty. This from Wikipedia alone:

Quote:

However, by 2000 sales slowed to $200 million, largely caused by the unappealing side effects described on the FDA-mandated health warning label "This Product Contains Olestra. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools. Olestra inhibits the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E, and K have been added."[7]

This condition (normally occurring only by excessive consumption in a short period of time) led to a condition known as "steatorrhea," or anal leakage.

Olestra is banned in many countries, including the United Kingdom and Canada.

Since it contains fatty acid functional groups, Olestra is able to dissolve lipid-soluble vitamins such as vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, and vitamin A, along with carotenoids. Fat soluble nutrients consumed along with Olestra products are excreted along with the undigested Olestra molecules. To counteract this loss of nutrient, products made with Olestra are fortified with oil-soluble vitamins to compensate for this loss to fecal matter.

Ewwwww.

No kidding. I'm of the all-things-in-moderation camp; if I can't have the damned potato chips, junk calories and all, I'd rather not have the damned things AT ALL. I don't want some genetically-modified non-trans-fat-non-healthy alternative. If I want an alternative to potato chips with my lunch, I'll have celery or carrots. Organic, of course. If I want to splurge and have a treat, I'll just get some real chips and take the caloric hit.

Olean/Olestra just never appealed to me, at all.

The entire concept of "diet" junk food is patently ridiculous.

And I was laughing at that last one, good heavens, it sounds a bit like me when I get ploshed and start flaming, ok, more than a bit...

I know it's off topic a bit, CTS, but you should rent the flick Despicable Me - man I seriously *liked* Gru, he was old school classic, hell, I even have a very similar scarf, hehehe.

Wendy liked it a bit much, she's been humming the theme all day and annoying the hell out of the cats by pickin em up and going "Sooo fluffy!" - they're *not* amused.

I soooo gotta get me some stuffed minions....

OMG the cello one is fricken hilarious

Quote:

It's a nice cello. Actually, it's a great cello. It's probably the best cello, but I don't really know much about cellos. Also the neck snapped off. Of the cello. So it's really more like 3/4's of a cello, but the other 1/4's still there, it's just not attached. It's kind of like you're getting two cellos, only one of them doesn't have a body and the other doesn't have a neck. But if you stand them up next to each other it's like old times. You could probably fix it with like some music glue or something like that.

music glue lol I'm gonna have to remember that.

Pringles are very high in acrylamide, as I was just reading. Amazingly high. They will apparently kill you to. It might be a terrorist plot. Slow down the american chubby forces,

I was trying to read that one aloud to my wife, but could barely get through it because we were both laughing so hard!

I swear, I think someone was practicing their creative writing on CraigsList...

I try to never travel without carrying some music glue, just in case. ;)
