Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I'm not sure how credible it is and I haven't heard it elsewhere, but just for those who are so eager to blame the left for Loughner:

Loughner was not politically motivated. He was angry at 'the government' not the right or the left but the 'government' that was 'mind controlling' us through our currency, grammar and religion. Anyone associating him with Christians is especially misinformed, as also he said he did not believe in God.

I view blame the left or right for this as equally ridiculous, but I've seen the right blamed far more often.

Most of his blog posts seem left wing, some of them seem right wing, or at least libertarian.

He might have known Giffords personally.

His lunacy seemed to be pretty extreme, toward incoherent. That, and he had a gun. Also, he was trying very hard to get attention.

I think that perceptions will be that he was right wing tea party, because that was the MSM spin. Also, a lot of people seem to buy the white supremacist thing no matter how many times they try it. At least they didn't say he was a muslim mexican.

I think Loughner was a school shooting waiting to happen except that he got kicked out of school before he got a chance.

I do think whoever was running the campaign, or organizing the event, if they had this many death threats they should have hired security, or warned people. I'm glad to hear MOST here recognize that yes, this was a paranoid schiz who, as Rose said, got no help from anyone and blew up. The comment about a potential school shooter is a good point.

I do find it interesting how many are quick, nonetheless, to say

Things can be found to point to either side, if one wanted to. It's absurd, but it's still clung to by some (too many) on both sides. I was curious to see how this would be viewed; I'm happy to say, the majority of us seem to be sane, whatever that means!
