Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayl!

Hey guys
I managed to spill candle wax on my favourite top , and I need a way to get it out without damaging my shirt. Any suggestions?

What kind of fabric? What color? What color candle wax?

Pull as much as the wax off as you can and then put a brown paper bag over the remaining waxy area and iron it.

WD40 also dissolves wax. But I'd try the iron and paper bag trick first. I'm not sure if WD40 will stain the fabric.

White cotton, very light fabric.

Well ... if the fabric is fragile you might not want to try picking the wax off. If it's liable to melting like poly is you might not want to try the iron + paper trick. And if it's a brightly colored wax on a pale fabric you might find that the dyes in the wax will stain the fabric, so even if you get the wax out a stain will remain

But! - it sounds like none of those are true. So proceed with what Magons said - just don't overdo.

Ya could try pouring boiling water through it if the fabric is sturdy enough to take that, I've removed wax from a shirt like that before.

I think Frem is correct, but I'm not sure it has to be boiling. 150F or so should do it. The wax should float through the water separating from the material. Only a problem doing it this way if the material shrinks in hot water. Typical hotwater heater will do 140F or so, that should be enough.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.

It went pretty well :)
I managed to iron most of the wax out, and the rest should come out in the wash.
