Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

This one blows me away, and like some, I don't see why it's not getting more attention:
Quote:

During the first debate between Brown and Warren, Brown told the audience that he could tell by looking at Warren, who was born in Oklahoma, that she does not have any Native American lineage. He later denied having said that. What he said was: "I think character is important. I think what you’re referring to is the fact that Professor Warren claimed that she was a Native American, a person of color, and as you can see, she’s not.

...she applied to Penn and Harvard and she checked the box claiming she was a Native American. And, you know, clearly she’s not. When you are a United States Senator you have to pass a test, and one of character and honesty and truthfulness. And I believe, and others believe, that she has failed that test." http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/20/scott_brown_rips_war
ren_for_native_american_claim_at_senate_debate.html
]
In a later exchange with a reporter, Brown denied his remarks were what they were:
Quote:

REPORTER: … the debate that, “As you can see,” she’s not Indian. Can you tell by looking at someone what their ethnicity is? What’s your feeling on that?

BROWN: [Avoids the question, talks about Warren's character, integrity, etc....]

REPORTER: But you’re suggesting you can tell by somebody’s—

BROWN: I never made that suggestion at all. http://www.towleroad.com/2012/09/scott-brown.html]
Anyway, that's how it began, Scott Brown showing his true nature by claiming Elizabeth Warren couldn't possibly have any Native American blood in her, because she doesn't "look" Native American.

In actual fact,
Quote:

Genealogist at the New England Historic Genealogical Society Chris Child set out to hunt down Warren’s ancestry last Thursday. In less than a week, he discovered documents citing an 1894 marriage record that lists Warren’s great-great-great grandmother, O. C. Sarah Smith as Cherokee, meaning that Warren is 1/32nd Native American. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/05/elizabeth-warrens-cheroke
e-heritage-raises-questions/
] Warren’s great-great-great grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, was referenced as Cherokee Indian on her son William Crawford’s 1894 marriage license application, a 2006 family newsletter showed ( http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/05/mass-senate-race-warren-s
tirs-cherokee-ancestry-debate/
]). She has said of her heritage:
Quote:

“Growing up, my mother and my grandparents and my aunts and uncles often talked about our family’s Native American heritage. As a kid, I never thought to ask them for documentation- what kid would?- but that doesn’t change the fact that it is a part of who I am and part of my family heritage”Growing up, my mother and my grandparents and my aunts and uncles often talked about our family’s Native American heritage

Whether ancestry that far back classifies her as Native American is up to debate, but Scott Brown's and his staffers' actions aren't.

Some of his actual STAFFERS were filmed making "war whoops" and "tomahawk chops". These are not just "some folk", or even Brown supporters, they are his STAFF: Identified in video making the chop are Brown's Constituent Service Counsel Jack Richard (camoflage shirt) and Massachusetts GOP operative Brad Garrett, front and center with tan baseball cap and gray hoodie, gleefully leading the whoops and chops. Also present was Brown's Deputy Chief of Staff Greg Casey.

Bear in mind these are people directly connected to Brown's campaign, his senior staff, and their salaries are taxpayer financed. How could they do what they did without Brown knowing about it or condoning it? If they could, what does that say about his control of his campaign?
Quote:

After the incident became public, the Scott Brown campaign said in a statement that “Senator Brown has spoken to his entire staff – including the individuals involved in this unacceptable behavior – and issued them their one and only warning that this type of conduct will not be tolerated.” http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57521462/brown-gives-warning-to-st
aff-for-tomahawk-chops/
]

Brown issued a non-apology apology:
Quote:

Well, I haven’t seen it, this is the first I’m hearing of it,” Brown told reporters. “But … if you’re saying that, certainly that’s not something I condone. It’s certainly something that if I am aware of it, I’ll tell that [staff] member to never do it again. But the real issue here is, and the real offense is the fact that Professor Warren checked the box. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/09/25/brown-
on-war-cry-video-something-i-dont-condone/
]

At separate rally, however, a Brown supporter let out another "war whoop" and Brown didn't respond, though he didn't actively condone the act, either. The video was posted on a local GOP website and spotted by BlueMassGroup, which also found audio of Brown laughing at Native American jokes in reference to Warren.

Now the Cherokee Nation has piped up:
Quote:

The chief of the Cherokee Nation on Wednesday demanded an apology from Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) for what he called an "uneducated, unenlightened and racist portrayal of native peoples" by senior staff on his campaign and in his Senate office.
Quote:

"The Cherokee Nation is disappointed in and denounces the disrespectful actions of staffers and supporters of Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown. The conduct of these individuals goes far beyond what is appropriate and proper in political discourse. The use of stereotypical 'war whoop chants' and 'tomahawk chops' are offensive and downright racist," said Bill John Baker, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, in a statement. "The individuals involved in this unfortunate incident are high ranking staffers in both the senate office and the Brown campaign. A campaign that would allow and condone such offensive and racist behavior must be called to task for their actions."

It’s a new take on the old theme of race, defined as a meaningless social construct until it starts to mean everything. This is the way they operate. This is the way they always operate. You hire these people because this is the way they operate. There's only one reason to pound the issue about Elizabeth Warren's ancestry and that is to race-bait, to gin up the lizard-brained anger at "quotas" and "affirmative action." You talk about her like she gamed the system and you're not merely casting aspersions on her career, but you're giving a nudge-nudge, wink-wink to all the usual suspects out there who know somebody who knew somebody who was related to somebody who knew somebody who didn't get the job they should have had. This is also what they do. This is also what they've always done. This is also why you hired people because this is what they do.

I really hope this clown gets tromped. Warren is an incredible lady, and I'd really like to see her moving up in politics.

Ditto. Some of the things these conservatives are saying and doing just blows my mind. And I'd love to see Scott Brown tromped, considering the seat he won and how he's behaved. Not to mention that I got curious enough to check out Warren, and I like what I see.

Race baiting is the domain of the Democrats, and theirs alone.

Warren is a shameless liar, and a perfect fit for her party.

Is she or Ward Churchill the bigger fraud ? I wonder.

As a Native American...1/16 Cherokee I am horribly offended that she would falsely claim native heritage and use it to her advantage in education, employment, and politics.

She should drop out immediately and return all the money she's earned from her jobs and all the money given to her for her education. Lets face it, people who own Jeep Grand Cherokees are more Native then she is.

BTW, I only recently learned of my own heritage thanks to my retired father and uncles having lots of time on their hands. I never got the opportunity to claim my heritage for work or education. I earned my degree by working and taking student loans...in other words I followed the path of the white man. To honor my heritage I've recently purchased a tactical tomahawk, started drinking whisky and tried to give away my land (ok, thats mean and racist...but it's ok if we say this about ourselves).

Funny how he just knows she's lying - with nary a shred of evidence.

And he demands she give back all the money she *never received* based on her heritage.

Eat a dick, scumbag.

And of course, the raptard hasn't had anything worthwhile to contribute - ever. But once again, he "doesn't have time" to comment on other threads - but jumps in to make an unfounded attack against a liberal in no time flat.

Oh, that's HYSTERICAL! Your "1/16th" is more honorable than her "1/32nd"??? I'll bet money you'd have used it, if you knew (or if it's even true). I guess you're just like Warren...got no proof, just family discussions. Oh, wait, she DOES have proof. Do you?

Try learning the facts first-- oh, , what am I saying? Silly me..."facts". Well, for OTHERS interested in them:
Quote:

In late April, the Boston Herald reported that in the 1990s, Harvard Law School – where Warren began teaching in 1992 and was granted tenure in 1995 – touted the Democrat’s Native American background as part of an effort to boost its diversity hiring record. Warren’s campaign said she didn’t bring up her heritage before Harvard hired her and that her background came out through later conversations.

The next week, Warren acknowledged listing herself as a minority in a directory of law professors. The directory included her on a list of minority professors from 1985 to 1996, the Boston Globe reported. Warren said she listed herself as a minority because she wanted to connect with “people for whom native American is part of their heritage and part of their hearts.”

In late May, the Globe reported that Warren acknowledged that at some point after she was hired by Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania, she informed the schools of her Native American heritage.

And Brown’s campaign piled on, seeking to raise more questions about whether Warren used her claim to Native American heritage to her professional advantage. They continue to do so, citing the fact that Warren stopped listing herself as a minority in the faculty directory in 1995 — the year she received tenure at Harvard — in a recent press release. Officials responsible for hiring her have said her heritage was not a factor in their decision. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/09/27/the-fight-ov
er-elizabeth-warrens-heritage-explained/
]
In other words, there is absolutely no proof, much less even any indication, that she got any "preferential treatment" because of her heritage. If anything, others MADE USE of her heritage in pretty funky ways: Harvard Law School "touting" her background "as part of an effort to boost its diversity hiring record"--they only found out she was part Native American after they hired her, so that's a lie. The law directory including her "on a list of minority professors" was probably for the same reason. I'd bet money she stopped using her heritage because others were using it that way--or else just to avoid controversy, who knows?

And you're a lawyer, eh? You trip yourself up every goddamned time by showing how little you THINK like a lawyer or do the things lawyers do--like check out the facts before jumping to conclusions. I repeat: I do not believe you are a lawyer. Like I said before, I worked for them all my working life, and none I ever knew would stoop to the kind of unprofessionalism you show here every day.

Just another pretending he's something he's not.

I find the righties whining about name calling amusing. Rappy finds it soooo terrible that I call he or "hero" names - based on the actual views they espouse right here.

But it's okay for Rappy to call entire swaths of people "evil" or "cancers" because of often completely invented reasons. And of course, there are literally dozens of examples in other threads of him calling names, too - but of course, those are different. But he's "reasonable".

And our poor, fragile lillies in BDN and Cavetroll, who always leaps in to decry name-calling from the left... fall amazingly silent when the right does it.

Well, at least he managed to make my point for me in record time. Thanks for that.

(oh, and you might want to use a dictionary for those polysyllabic words, your own self - since you seem to struggle with them a touch).

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.

Hey, at least he looked up "polysyllabic" so he could spell it right, give the guy some credit! nobody!

Back to the original topic (fat chance); the mere fact that Scott Brown said she claimed she was Native American, and "obviously", by her looks, "she's not", is all that's important. That's racist, the idea that you can tell someone's race by their appearance. Nothing else need be said.

Yep, the rest is just so much noise.

But I'm sure someone will be along directly, to let us all know it was just a "joke."

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

By the way, I've pointed this out before (months ago), but it bears repeating:

Liz Warren has the same amount of Cherokee blood as the current chief of the Cherokee Nations, Chief Bill John Baker.

Just for fun, can anyone here tell me who in this picture is an American Indian by blood? Just going off looks, like Scott Brown says he can do, pick out all the Indians in the pic, please. (You might have to click the link for the pic)
