Trump. I changed my mind about him running for President. In the past, I had to spend time and money to discover what slimy bugs were living inside the minds of people I wasn't sure I could trust. Untrustworthy people wisely hide those things about themselves. But with Trump running, people are now revealing their worst attributes freely and with crystal clarity, which saves me the trouble of paying to find out who they truly are.

I've changed my mind about a few things since then

One thing that surprised me about Firefly and this website was how it appealed to people across a wide spectrum. Dyed in the wool liberals like NIKKI and MAGONS. Libertarian like SARGEX. Corporate libertarians like GEEZER. Patriotic soldiers like FINN. Pacifists like CHRISISALL. Partisan trolls like THUGR and SECOND. Conspiracy theorists like DREAMTROVE and PIRATENEWS. Populists like SIX and JSF. Unclassifiables like FREM. Foreign posters like BIFARONI and JAYNZE. Limbaugh dittoheads like AURAPTOR.

Learned a lot from everyone. One thing I learned is that conspiracy theorists often turned out to be a lot more accurate than most. Looked into DREAMTROVE 's old posts, my god that guy was smarter than a whip, and that touch of schizo(?) allowed him to see things most of us can't. If I want to up my game, I'm gonna have to do some pretty deep dives.

The other thing I learned....

I used to think that our government, IF RUN PROPERLY, could do a great deal of good. Set our country on the right track. Yanno, voted for Bill once. But then he made hash of everything. Voted for Obama once, but the moment he put a Wall Streeter in to oversee the "bank recovery" I knew whose pocket he was in.

I used to be a Democrat and I believed our government could be a benevolent force. But I was wrong. I've given up on our government doing anything beneficial for typical Americans, either under Dems or Repub, bc they're too corrupt.

EDITED TO ADD: But what I didn't count on is how evil they are.

Yeah... I suppose I am a populist these days. Maybe I always was. I never had much love for either party, usually taking the side of whatever party wasn't in power until Democrats got so bad that they're irredeemable whether they're in power or not. I'd say that up until about 2012 I leaned Democrat.

That isn't me changing my mind on anything. That's just external forces changing over time completely out of my control.

My early days here I was probably considered a conspiracy theorist. Frem and I were basically on the same page on everything back then. He was one of only two people I'd ever met in the RWED that I actually had conversations with outside of fff.net.

Half the shit I told people was going on both here and in real life back then was confirmed by Snowden and everybody freaked out about it for 2 weeks and went right back on living and not giving it any thought. I think that's when I stopped worrying about it all because if nobody else was going to worry about any of it why am I going to?

A good deal of the other half of the things I said were going on in the mid 2000's ended up being proven with time too. It's actually probably worse than I even imagined it was back then. But again... Why am I going to worry about it? I have absolutely no power to change any of it.

The 1% controls the 99%. End of story. Both political parties are run by the 1%, and they're going to do whatever they want to do to us.

I'll just keep working on my house and helping out the small handful of people in my sphere of influence and let other people worry about the future of the human race.
