If they had the fanciest weapons that they could carry, it would be four times $10,000 each for a total of $40,000. This was NOT EXPENSIVE, Signym. Anybody but you and man-child 6ixStringJack who lives on less than $10,000 per year could have paid for this attack. Anybody. No nation was needed to pay for the trivial cost of this.

What really happened was that Putin paid these four guys. Here is why Putin would want to kill Russians:

Russian officials are tying the US and the West to a broader set of “terrorist” attacks against Russia following the Crocus City Hall attack, likely to intensify rhetoric about alleged Western and Ukrainian threats to generate greater domestic support for the war in Ukraine.

The Russian Investigative Committee and Prosecutor General’s Office stated on March 27 that they will consider an appeal from the Russian State Duma to investigate American and Western financing and organization of terrorist attacks against Russia.[7] The Russian Investigative Committee, Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Duma Deputies that made the appeal did not explicitly reference the Crocus City Hall attack.[8] Kremlin officials have previously tied Ukraine and the West to the Crocus City Hall attack but have yet to make a formal accusation, and the Kremlin may refrain from issuing an official accusation as all available evidence continues to show that the Islamic State (IS) is very likely responsible for the attack.[9] Russian officials routinely describe Ukrainian military strikes against legitimate military targets in occupied Ukraine and Russia as terrorism and consistently claim that Western actors help organize these strikes.[10] The Kremlin likely aims to seize on wider Russian social fears and anger following the Crocus City Hall attack by portraying Ukraine, the US, and the West as immediate terrorist threats. The Kremlin likely hopes that perceptions of Ukrainian and Western involvement in the Crocus City Hall attack will increase domestic support for the war in Ukraine, and Russian officials will likely invoke a broader view of what they consider terrorism to further cast Ukrainians as terrorists and the West as a sponsor of terrorism.[11] The Kremlin may still formally accuse Ukraine of conducting the Crocus City Hall attack if it believes that these other informational efforts are insufficient to generate the domestic response it likely desires.[12]

It wasn't four guys, it was six, since two were killed. Or maybe seven, since there were early reports that one was knocked unconscious by a patron.

Weapons and incendiary devices were cached ahead of time. Some of them were trained in a training center in Turkeye, where 11 additional people were rounded up. And some went to Afghanistan. The whole operation ... including the training center in Turkeye... is NOT an operation by isolated jihadist nutjobs from dirt-poor Afghanistan. They were recruited -for money- from one country and sent to two others before trying to escape thru a war zone to Ukraine.

Definitely NOT religious fanaticism.

Signym, a cache of explosives stored by Putin for his hired assassins, who were duped into the plot, not knowing who was paying them. It is a very cheap and convenient way for Putin to convince Russian civilians they will be killed by NATO and, therefore, Russians will support Putin. Signym, see if you can demonstrate that Putin cannot gain political support by killing Russians. Putin has already killed hundreds of thousands of Russians. What matters if he kills a few more? It's enormously valuable for him and doesn't cost much so long as the assassins are not traced back to Putin for him to kill more Russians if that solidifies his support to continue a war on Ukraine lasting many more years.

Putin's job is to convince Russians that a war on Ukraine benefits Russians. Putin convinced Russians that Ukraine murdered them at a concert hall. Putin did his job well. Russians are convinced. They will support Putin's war on Ukraine. But when their enthusiasm for war wanes, Putin will kill some more Russians and blame Ukraine, which will re-energize his nation to continue the war.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is intensifying efforts to implicate Ukraine in the March 22 Crocus City Hall terrorist attack while denying any Islamic State (IS) responsibility or involvement in the attack.

Reuters reported on April 1 that Iran warned Russia about a possible “major terrorist operation” at an unspecified date prior to the Crocus City Hall attack, according to “three sources familiar with the matter.”[11] Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov and Russian Presidential Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov denied the report that Iran warned Russia of a terrorist attack.[12] The Russian government will likely continue to deny any reports that the Kremlin received a warning of a potential terrorist attack before the Crocus City Hall attack to deflect blame from Russia’s law enforcement and intelligence failure and divert accusations towards Ukraine.

The Russian MFA announced on April 1 that it is working to remove the Taliban’s status as a designated terrorist organization in Russia and announced that Russia invited the Taliban to participate in the May 14-19 Russia-Islamic World Forum in Kazan, Tatarstan Republic.[13] The Kremlin’s hyper-fixation on pinning the blame for the attack on Ukraine, as opposed to addressing very real and necessary terrorist threats, will likely continue to pose a security threat to Russia in the long term.
