Sidney Powell, a lawyer who filed lawsuits after the 2020 election, got a win in Texas after an appeals court ruled that the Texas bar did not prove that she engaged in misconduct or fraud.

A panel of judges on the Fifth District of Texas Court of Appeals in Dallas ruled Wednesday that the state bar’s arguments lacked merit and evidence. They found that state bar prosecutors “employed a ’scattershot' approach to the case” that had alleged Ms. Powell did not have a reasonable basis to file lawsuits that challenged the 2020 election’s outcome in battleground states.

“The Bar employed a ‘scattershot’ approach to the case, which left this court and the trial court ‘with the task of sorting through the argument to determine what issue ha[d] actually been raised,'” Justice Dennise Garcia wrote in the court’s ruling. “Having done so, the absence of competent summary judgment compels our conclusion that the Bar failed to meet its summary judgment burden

A prediction from Doug In Exile

Sidney Powell a conspiracy theorist they say who tried to over turn an election, she's been in the business a while involved with a Merrill Lynch executive in the Enron scandal. She was one of the prosecutors the trial of Jimmy Chagra was accused in the assassination of a Judge, Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic really don't like her. BBC and others news outlets said Ms Powell is closely followed by supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory. Sidney Powell is the Author of Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice after seeing a core group of federal prosecutors break all the rules, make up crimes, hide evidence, and send innocent people to prison. Sidney Powell pleaded guilty to six misdemeanor counts for her involvement in attempting to illegally influence the outcome of the 2020 Presidential election. As part of her plea deal, Powell accepted to serve six years on probation, pay $6,000 in restitution, and to pay a $6,000 fine with $2,700 going to the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. Sidney Powell agreed to testify truthfully against the co-defendants and to avoid any contact with the seventeen others who remain who were charged by the same special grand jury. She stated will also provide documents requested to Fulton County District Attorney and said she will also need to write an apology to Georgia and its residents.

then came the Fani Willis madness

The former president has denied any wrongdoing and criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, accusing her of pursuing charges against him for political reasons as the race for the White House heats up.

I doubt very much that somebody "in Texas" came up with this case, just as I doubt very much anybody involved in any of his other cases came up with them either.

There are orchestrators at the top levels of the Uniparty, above positions that we vote on, that have handled all of these cases nationwide. I'd imagine that it's easy to find gullible low-level Democrats in any state who would unknowingly risk their careers while taking a big steaming pile of shit on the Constitution. They've been operating under the guise that they're the saviors of Democracy for the better part of the decade and they'll save Democracy by any means necessary... even if that means Destroying Democracy to save it. There's a good chance they don't even know they're being used and one morning a mysterious dossier just shows up in their office with a mountain of so-called evidence against Trump and the rest is history.

If only just one of these people ever managed to take down Trump, they'd be viewed as an overnight hero by the entire Legacy Media and 10 or 20 percent of the citizens of the US. Those who have been indoctrinated beyond the point of capably having a rational conversation with anyone who doesn't also live inside of their bubble.

And even in the event that they manage to throw Trump in prison over one of these fake cases and that actually did manage to hurt his campaign enough to give us 4 more years of Joe Biden*, the risk isn't over for them. They all get to walk around for the rest of their lives with the weight of that monkey on their back.

If this is how it ultimately plays out, likely some time after the election, the case would be appealed and Trump would be released. The people will not forget that any time soon. One day there will be a reckoning for what has become the most egregious coordinated act of weaponized partisanship through biased Judges and mid-level Government Officials our country has ever seen.

These people involved in all of this will never be safe from that reckoning. Regardless of who wins in November, my advice to them would be to resign whatever positions you have and move out into some small town somewhere, try to blend in, keep your head low and just do your best to enjoy living a much simpler and stress-free life completely removed from the public eye.

One day the pendulum is going to swing the other way in-full, and with all of the doors that Democrats have now opened for Republicans in their effort to stop a Trump Presidency, I don't see good things in any of their futures if they choose to remain in government positions.

At least not the ones who's names we all know. The people in power who were ultimately responsible for all of this this will continue to hide in broad daylight, carrying out their marching orders in positions that nobody votes on and probably don't even exist on paper to anyone lacking the proper credentials. They will have moved on to their next scheme and won't lose a wink of sleep ever thinking about what happened to their hapless pawns along the way.

The Texas State Bar’s disciplinary committee filed the case:

Texan Sidney Powell, Trump co-defendant, pleads guilty in Georgia election interference case

Under the plea agreement, the lawyer will serve six years’ probation, pay a $6,000 fine plus $2,700 to the secretary of state’s office and testify truthfully at co-defendants’ trials.

The Texas State Bar’s disciplinary committee has an ongoing disciplinary case against Powell, alleging that she committed professional misconduct in contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election. Powell had filed several lawsuits against agencies and officials in states where Biden won. A lower court dismissed the case, but it was appealed and is pending a decision.

Claire Reynolds, Public Affairs Counsel for the State Bar’s Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, said the guilty plea in the Georgia case should not affect the attorney discipline case.

6ix, your theory that it was Democrats punishing Trump’s lawyer is described in legal language as “bullshit”:

6ix, Trump needs you in New York City, or he might not win in November. As you have written thousands of times Trump will be the next President, but not if you won't come and help. You are not too busy to go there.

The MAGA circus Trump wanted outside his trial hasn’t arrived

Donald J. Trump was evidently not happy with what he saw out the window of his chauffeured S.U.V. as he rode through Lower Manhattan on Monday morning for the beginning of opening arguments in his first criminal trial.

The scene that confronted him as he approached the dingy courthouse at 100 Centre Street was underwhelming. Across the street, at Collect Pond Park, the designated site for protesters during the trial, only a handful of Trump supporters had gathered, and the number would not grow much throughout the morning.

Mr. Trump has portrayed his legal jeopardy as a threat to America itself, and he has suggested that the country would not put up with it. But the streets around the courthouse on Monday were chaos-free — well-patrolled and relatively quiet. As his motorcade made its way to the courthouse, the few Trump supporters gathered in the park were outnumbered by Trump detractors, who waved signs about his alleged liaison with a porn star.

Mr. Trump had tried to gin up something noisier. Shortly after 7 a.m., he posted on his social media website that “America Loving Protesters should be allowed to protest at the front steps of Courthouses” and he followed this lament with a call for his supporters to “GO OUT AND PEACEFULLY PROTEST. RALLY BEHIND MAGA. SAVE OUR COUNTRY!”

The narrow criminal courthouse steps in Lower Manhattan are not routinely open for protest — and particularly not when a former president of the United States is inside, guarded by a phalanx of Secret Service agents who have worked with local officials on security measures.

Asked to comment on Mr. Trump’s frustrations about the lack of protest activity, a spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, tried to connect it to the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, and President Biden and insisted people were being prevented from being in Lower Manhattan because of the barricades.

Later in the morning, Mr. Trump sought to cast the poor turnout as more evidence of a plot against him. In a post at 8:50 a.m., he implied that would-be MAGA protesters were being discriminated against for political reasons.

What is Trump accused of? The charges trace back to a $130,000 hush-money payment that Trump’s fixer, Michael Cohen, made to the porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2016 to suppress her story of a sexual liaison with Trump in 2006. While serving as president, Trump reimbursed Cohen, and how he did so constituted fraud, prosecutors say.

Why did prosecutors cite other hush-money payments? Although the charges relate to the payment to Daniels, Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, is expected to highlight two other hush-money deals. Prosecutors say that the deals show that Trump had orchestrated a wide-ranging scheme to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Who will the key witnesses be? Cohen is expected to be a crucial witness for prosecutors. Bragg is also expected to call David Pecker, the former publisher of The National Enquirer, as well as Hope Hicks, a former Trump aide, to shed light on the tumultuous period surrounding the payments. Trump said he plans to testify in his own defense.

Who is the judge? Juan Merchan, the judge, is a veteran of the bench known as a no-nonsense, drama-averse jurist. During the trial, Justice Merchan will be in charge of keeping order in the courtroom and ruling on objections made by prosecutors and Trump’s lawyers. The jury will decide whether Trump is guilty.

What happens if Trump is convicted? The charges against Trump are all Class E felonies, the least severe felony category in New York. If convicted, Trump faces a prison sentence of four years or less, or he could receive probation.

How is The New York Times covering the trial? The Times will provide comprehensive coverage of the trial, which is set to last six to eight weeks. Expect live updates from the courtroom in Manhattan, daily takeaways, explainers and analysis from our reporting team.

“Unlike at Columbia University where the Radical Left Palestinian Protesters sat on the Front Lawn, practically took over the School, and screamed, ‘Death to the Jews, Death to Israel, Death to America,’ and nothing happened to them, Lower Manhattan surrounding the Courthouse, where I am heading now, is completely CLOSED DOWN,” Mr. Trump posted on Truth Social. “SO UNFAIR!!!”

The area was not, in fact, completely closed down. The courthouse has remained open to the public, including spectators who want to attend the trial, pool cameras in the hallway — and even the sidewalk in front of the courthouse has remained open to pedestrian traffic. Twenty minutes later, Mr. Trump compared the courthouse to “an armed camp.”

Here's one of them. But this one is (allegedly) working for Trump...

Politico: The Most Feared and Least Known Political Operative in America

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/04/26/susie-wiles-trump-de
santis-profile-00149654

Quote:

Wiles is not just one of Trump’s senior advisers. She’s his most important adviser. She’s his de facto campaign manager. She has been in essence his chief of staff for the last more than three years. She’s one of the reasons Trump is the GOP’s presumptive nominee and Ron DeSantis is not. She’s one of the reasons Trump’s current operation has been getting credit for being more professional than its fractious, seat-of-the-pants antecedents. And she’s a leading reason Trump has every chance to get elected again — even after his loss of 2020, the insurrection of 2021, his party’s defeats in the midterms of 2022, the criminal indictments of 2023 and the trial (or trials) of 2024. The former president is potentially a future president. And that’s because of him. But it’s also because of her. Trump, of course, is Trump — he can be irritable, he can be impulsive — and this campaign is facing unprecedented stressors and snags. It’s a long six-plus months till Election Day. For now, though, nobody around him is so influential, and nobody around him has been so influential for so long.

“There is nobody, I think, that has the wealth of information that she does. Nobody in our orbit. Nobody,” top Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio told me. “She touches everything.”

“Certainly,” said former Florida Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo, “she’s one of the most consequential people in American politics right now.”

“And nobody,” said veteran Florida lobbyist Ronnie Book, “even knows who she is.”

The fact that her name is out there means that she's not even one of the ones really in charge. She's certainly not anywhere close to the "least known" political operative in America, as this Politico article would have you believe.

Can we stop pretending in 2024 that the President of the United States is the most powerful person in the world when it's clear to everyone by now that this is not true at all. Especially when the entire world has seen going on 4 years of pudding-brains Joe* being steered around by his handlers all the time so he doesn't walk right off a stage when he's done reading a teleprompter and ignoring all the reporter's questions.
