I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Well, let's try and move past the wishful thinking and ideas stage to something more concrete.

ITEM ONE
First of all, does anyone have any contact with ME or Joss Whedon? Would he/they even welcome a business plan, assuming it had actual resources (money, distributors, advertising etc.) lined up? DO they have the rights to FF? Are they working on something else? Do alternatives have to be developed before the set is struck?

ITEM TWO Distribution
Assuming that Joss and ME are ammenable to a fan-devloped business plan, the heart our discussions has been how to distribute FF: DVD, inet, big screen, cable, or some combination.

Each has its pitfalls and strong points, especially in IP protection. If we're going to go ahead with this, we need to explore each one. I hope there are people out there with actual entertainment-business experience who can lend a hand.

The other thing we should be thinking about is whether the distribution is worldwide, to English-speaking countries only, to North America, or the USA.

ITEM THREE Promotion
I think we all feel that FF just wasn't promoted enough. It's also possible that it wasn't promoted to the right audience. I'm not a FOX watcher and I stumbled onto FF by accident, but I DO spend a lot of time on-line. Look at the response in Slashdot, You might not like those guys but, heck, they are AUDIENCE.

ITEM FOUR- OH, is there an item four? What have I forgotten? YOu fill in the blanks.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Sounds like you have given this some serious thought, but here are a few things to remember:

1) Firefly is Joss & ME's baby. They are still running things, and from what we have heard, are still pursuing options outside the networks to get her back on the air.

2) Funding: where will it come from? If you propose a plan, will ME pick up the tab? Will the fans? Will we split it w/ them?

3) Who here would pitch the plan & implement the plan?

4) Promotion: what forms of media will you use to reach the public? How much is enough?

Just some thoughts.
