To me, the message of the movie was too over the top. Governmental evil like in Serenity is easy to believe because politicians are eager to keep their hands clean and often use despicable methods justified by noble goals. In V, the politicians seemed drunk with power and antagonized anyone they saw fit. Too blunt, too unbelievable.

If you believe that the single mindedness and cruelty of the government was unbelievable, boy do people REALLY need to pay attention to what's going on in the world. This story had a powerful message, and one that needs to be listened to. Do not ignore it! Or it will happen. We as Americans are too blind to the reality of what goes on in the world because we are lazy, we are arrogant. This is a true example of how we think...we just shrug it off because it's not gonna really happen, not to us, because we're America, we're superior.

This is definitely something to go see if you haven't yet. Whether or not you like the graphic novel better, this is still something that needs to be seen and heard.

Listen, I'm getting sick and tired of people telling me I'm being naive because I felt the movie was being unrealistic. This movie was about fear and control and I feel that the series of events that led to the election of a very dictator-like leader was too extreme. It was too obvious. If the movie was trying to warn us about electing dictators because of fear, it didn't explore the process that led to their election enough. It simply said "Look how evil these people are, its baaaaad that you elected them" Well f&#king right they're bad. Listen, its not those that are blaring out hateful messages that ordinary people need to be worried about, because they're obvious, its those who talk meekly about allowing the executive branch more leeway, those who ask for national id's for everyone to prevent child kidnapping, those who have noble goals and wild eyed idealism about how humanity works that should be thwarted above all. Because they are the ones that set in place the laws that will be abused by the evil ones.

This is why I think the movie is unrealistic. Because its the most obvious worst case scenario laid out without the good intentions or supposed good intentions being explained how they were corrupted into this parody of government.

So that's why I have my opinion and I wager to say I'm not as naive as people have been accusing me of.

JubelLate:

Dude. I'm not accusing you of naivete here, but they did explain how the totalitarian government rose to power. It was kinda subtle, because it was taking place in newsreel footage behind the main action, when the Rush Limbaugh clone was going off.

Didja see the little labels, one of which was titled 'Avian Flu'?

I'd say more, but I'm too close to spoiling already...

Respectfully,

it was a collage of overlapping newsreels that taken together make things believable, but no direct logical progression IMO.

I'll admit though, the second two Matrix movies spoiled my opinion of the Wachowskis. I went into the movie looking for things they did wrong and that probably contributed to my harsh criticism.

The thing about Anon is that you can't really classify it, or them as a "group".

When you're running on the internet like they've done and for the most part they're good enough to generally not get caught, unless they do, none of these guys are beholden to any code or like-mindedness. When they do work together it's because they have similar goals in mind and a temporary alliance may come out of it.

Reputation and good previous interactions are all taken into account if some of them work together on future things, and weighing all of that out, but it's not as if they have any one doctrine or goal in mind.

You need to think of them as just about the direct opposite of the very "HR" modeled Democratic Party of the last 2 or 3 decades. The antithesis of the Hive-Mind.

I'm sure there's decent folk among them, but not the type of people I would want even knowing and/or caring that I exist, let alone get on their bad sides.
