Hopefully it's ok to ask this one, but I've been wondering and was inspired by CHRISTHECYNIC's thread and mphillips' latest creation:

Who do you think would win in an all-out, no holds barred, any gadget at their disposal AND ships included? Early or Fett?

Boba Fett used to be my favorite character in the Star Wars 'Verse BEFORE the prequels.

So, I would say that Old School Fett, the Fett who escaped the Sarlac, got a personal warning from Vader ("NO disintigrations"), outwitted Solo, took only five lines to become a fan favorite second only to Han and got Lando to sell his soul, would make short work of Early (heck, the rocket pack alone).

BUT, new school Fett - the clone kid who giggles and says "Get 'im dad!" and gawps when pop gets decapitated would get his sorry butt HANDED to him by Early. Maybe the third most troublesome bounty in keeping with the troublesome shorty pattern?

Anybody else got any ideas? Edited for spelling. Sorry.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams

In a straight 'take 10 paces' fight, I'll go with old Fett - armor, mobility and many weapons would weigh in.

In a sort of... competition, eg after the same target - I'll go with Early - sneakier, more methodical and the borderline psychic thing. However, they're just as likely to see each other, go "50/50?" and then smash things.

Early is too smart to go up against Fett, and Fett isn't and idiot either. I can't tell you who would win in a fight because I honestly can't see them getting into one.

Well, I understand your point. But he WAS a kid. A little kid caught up in some crazy stuff, who held his father's decapitated head and didn't flip out. Superfluous, perhaps, but I still think that shows that Boba Fett, while hardcore, is human.

Fett would kill Early, they'd probably have the same tracking success, but Early is so much cooler than Fett. Early was the first reason I fell in love with Firefly. Such a great bad guy.

The Operative would kick both their butts. His sword play and knowledge of hand to hand moves and paralyzing parts of the body would make short work of anyone in close range. And the guy has proven to have a competent long range shooting abilities.

Between Fett and Early, it's a draw, unless Fett is authorized to use desintagration(SP). Then Fett might have an edge. Though, Early's pretty sneaky and would probably have studied Fett's weaknesses.

The Operative, however would beat them both, as I like to think of him as the best of both of those characters.

Actually if I remember correctly, and I saw this more than once paying attention to this spesific thing, you see something come out of the helmet (which could only be the guy's head) and the kid, little Boba, runs not to his father's decapitated head, but instead to his father's empty helmet.

Any time someone asks, "Who would win?" this should be brought up. Especially with Star Wars involved.

I'll take anyone in the Firefly verse over anyone in the Star Wars universe.

Does that seem right to you?

Yeah, when Jango gets his head lopped off, you see the shadow of the helmet go along the ground, and a second shadow seperate from it.

Early would win caus Fett ended up getting bitched by a blimd man and a wookie

Thought Jango was a cool dude though but without the comical hearing problems like Early.

The opertative would probably beat all of them though

I'd have to agree with Fett taking this one. Early has a sort of honor about him. Fett has nothing but weapons and no soul. That doesn't mean that I prefer Fett to Early, just that I don't think he'd win. Now, Fett vs. River is a different story. There's be Fett all over the place.

Actually if you read the books and such, which is the only way we know Fett has so many weapons, he's got soul and honor, just in a screwed up fashion, much like Early.

That makes sense, however I assumed we were speaking only from the original trilogy.

I thought you might be, but in that case how many weapons does he have? And how well does h use them?

I agree, he is very cool even if taken only from the original trilogy, but when Boba Fett fails he hurts no one and gets eaten. When Early fails he knocks out two people, shoots one, and gets thrown into space in a spacesuit with limited air.

Which one seems more effective?

Also Early didn't feel the need to call in Darth Vader to capture his prey.

Gotta go with the Fett. He's an exact copy (as opposed to the other clones) of the Universe's greatest non-force weilding warrior, who has been trained in his are since he was old enough to walk. I'm thinking Early got a later start there, though I can't speak to his genetic pedigree.

Even on a strictly "bounty-hunter tracking skills" level I'd give it to Fett. For one, he doesn't seem to have hearing problems, which I think might be handy in that line of work.

Plus, Fett was a well-known, notorious figure in the SW 'verse. Whereas nobody knew who early was, and the FF 'verse is much, much smaller.

Can you really back that up? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just wondering. I mean Fett is known to Darth Vader (who hired him and thinks he needs special coaching to get the job done right), but other than that the only ones we know of who know him are people who he has already screwed with, just like everyone on Serenity knows Early now.

Can we even say that it is true to say that Fett is, "Known to some"?

-

I'm just wondering how much about Fett is what we see, and how much is what we assume.

Well, Boba wasn't technically hunting anyone when he got it at the Sarlaac. He was just hangin' out, when hell broke loose. And really, Han just got an (accidental) lucky shot while Boba was distracted by a Jedi.

And he didn't need to call in Vader. That's what he was hired to do.

Admittedly, there's nothing said in the movies that supports that, but going off the expanded universe stuff, yeah, Boba has quite the reputation. (I consider expanded universe fair game in this topic, 'cause the original post mentioned Fett escaping the Sarlaac, which he did not do in the film.)

there are too many variables to this equation, so i'm going to simplify it: Boba and Jubal, wearing only pajamas, in a circular room with a pile of hammers in the middle.

What I meant was we only see Fett "capture" one bounty, that being Han Solo. To do that he called in Vader as part of a different job and Vader captured Han for him.

Fett did find, but not capture any memember of, the entire crew of the Falcon, just as Early found Serenity.

I'm fairly sure I also said that I'm not putting Fett down. I have long groked that he is cool.

Jubal couldn't bring in a defencless 15 year old girl... ( floating through the vacumm of space waiting or his oxygen to run out)

And Boba was almost killed by a blind man with a stick....( being slowly eaten of a course of 100s of years until a friend saved him)

There both dudes that are supposed to be bad@33 but they get beaten in pretty crappy ways...I'm gonna go with Boba he's got more high-tech toys.

And JUBAL EARLY is a stupid name

Actually, in the animated segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special (which was the first appearance of Boba Fett), he captured Han, Luke, Chewie and the droids. They escaped of course, but so did the Serenity crew.

Not that I can blame you for not having seen this, as aside from the animated segment, it is one of the most atrociouse specials ever.

And as for the PJ's and hammers scenario, I still go with Boba, for my aforementioned "trained-from-infancy" reason.

Early for sure. Bobo's been prequelised and lost his mojo.

I was so pleased to see that Temura Morrison played Jango. Run back to your DVD shelf and watch any fight from "Once Were Warriors."

There, I thought. if violence is to ensue, then it's in safe hands.

Fett for sure would kick his ass. Fett's helmet has a complete 360' view range which would take care of Earlies sneakiness. Not to mention the hidden razors that shoot out of his wrist, or the flamethrower in his other wrist.

Now if it were against the Operative, or River i would say that Fett doesnt stand a chance. besides all Fet would have to do is ask Early is a lion and attack him while hes thinking about it hehe

Fett vs Early Fett Early

Fett vs Operative Fett Operative

Fett vs River
