If firefly does come back to TV...

What network would you like to see it on, and which is the best bet at supporting it for a run of a few years?

Fox
UPN
WB
PsyPhi (SciFi)
other

I would love to see it on PsyPhi, but I think UPN or Fox (reluctant to say it, but) has the best shot at keeping it around for a few seasons of shows.

What do you think? Maybe cable or one of the big three?

I'd like to see it on NBC since they already have an open contract with Nathan Fillion. Plus...I think... NBC and Universal are in the same family.

HBO!!!!!!!! They actually treat shows well!!

I'd say Showtime but I'm less sure about them. Aren't they dumping their sci-fi?

But the only remote possibilty is NBC where it'd last not more then a few episodes but hey, you never know.

Showtime dumped Odyssey 5 but renewed Jeremiah, I think both were good shows and complimented each other. I think Dead Like Me is also quite innovative. Firefly would compliment either show. It would also be good paired with Carnivale on HBO which is very atmospheric and X-Files-like.

The advantage to cable is that they can target the right audience and they routinely repeat shows in different time slots so scheduling is not the show killer on cable that it is in network TV. I think Showtime currently owns Sci-Fi which is why the first run of SG-1 moved to Sci-fi from Showtime, so Firefly would have a ready outlet for its second run show. Also cable is less likely to balk at the cost of the shhw's production.

I assume Joss tried all of these options and got no bites. After all he has been in the biz for years. Sadly we all have to wait for the movie, but like most of the folks who post here I would prever the longterm character development and on-going satifaction of a weekly series, sigh.

Although you're right that HBO would treat Firefly better, I'd rather not have it there for the simple fact that I'd end up spending more money to get HBO.

But aside from me being cheap, I'd love to see Firefly get the best treatment. And though I wouldn't mind seeing a FF movie, I'd rather see FF TV renewed.

I agree with Succatash, NBC would prolly be best. Some of the other networks mentioned are not avaialable country wide. I don't get UPN. I think they only play WB on the WGN channel out of Chicago during certain times at nite here, and the reception is shitty. I can't afford HBO. And there are many with cable who don't get Sci-Fi either. It all depends on your company and what they have decided to offer. Network is the best way to go since everyone gets it.

I would so be up for NBC. That would give Firefly some much due respect. Firefly needs to be available & accesible so it can generate a greater audience. Plus to see it on NBC would so rub fox's face in it. I'm game.

As long as we're talking druthers, I'd like to get mine straight from the source. I'd pay $5-10 an episode to get a CD sent or to download it straight from ME. Maybe I'm spoiled but I like seeing them at my liesure without commercial interruption. NBC hasn't had an hour-long sci-fi show on its roster since Quantum Leap. Granted, QL got moved around a lot, but the powers that be liked it enough to keep renewing it for 5 seasons in spite of mediocre ratings. Third Rock From the Sun also got a decent run, and even poked fun at being moved around ("we do this EVERY year!!").

With gorram fox's track record of ditching a show before it gets a decent fan following - I didn't say that, Cinescape did - I don't think they can be trusted with quality television. They're not just picking on Firefly either John Doe is gone now too, and so is Keen Eddie, which wasn't sci-fi in format, but like Firefly, KE was cancelled in its prime. To be fair, cinematography on KE was formatted more for cable syndication.

Who Returning To BBC
The British cult SF TV series Doctor Who is on its way back to the U.K. airwaves 14 years after it was canceled, the BBC reported. Writer and avowed Who fan Russell T. Davies (Queer as Folk) is behind the revival, the British network reported.

The new Doctor Who will be produced by BBC Wales, whose head of drama Julie Gardner said that the show is in its early stages and likely wouldn't be on screen for at least two years, the BBC reported.

The first Doctor Who, played by William Hartnell, was first seen on Nov. 23, 1963. He was followed by seven more, before the series was axed in 1989, the news service reported.

Davies told the BBC that the new show "will be fun, exciting, contemporary and scary. ... Although I'm only in the early stages of development, I'm aiming to write a full-blooded drama, which embraces the Doctor Who heritage, at the same time as introducing the character to a modern audience."

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I think NBC would be the best fit. They have the money and enough affiliates to properly promote the show, the way the show should have been promoted by FOX.

If not NBC, then I think SciFi would do well. With Stargate SG-1 going into its final season this year, and Farscape off the air, they will need a new show to pull in those displaced fans.

NBC recently acquired Universal, or are expected to aquire Universal, so it would most likely be on NBC.
