FLYINFREE

I have shown Firefly to several people and always get the same reaction, instant addiction. I have started calling it the Firefly Effect. It is like being in the Twilight Zone, I mean I have never seen people act this way in my life! How the hell could this show have gotten cancelled? I've had people hunt down (cause they are sold out almost everywhere) Firefly DVDs just from my description of the show (which is nearly impossible to describe) having never seen a minute of it. It is unreal how this show affects people. One friend bought not only the DVDs but also a DVD player just from my description of Firefly! Whatever Joss was smokin' when he came up with the idea for Firefly should be mandatory in schools! Whatever Fox was smokin' should be banned worldwide on pain of death! How did the boobs at Fox get jobs?!?

"...we're still flyin'."
"That's not much."
"It's enough." Malcolm Reynolds and Simon Tam - Serenity

I have an effect I named. "The Twilight Zone Effect", because I can't think of a better name. It's where after the Twilight Zone, you think to much.

Any way, that's to be expected with Firefly. It's very addictive. More than addictive. I'm trying to get my friends, but I am too attached to my DVDs.

Just lend 'em the first DVD...then when they come around beggin' for the rest of the DVDs, tell 'em to go buy a set of their own!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Addictive is right. I am addicted, and I have addicted four others so far. I even have my wife sitting down to watch an episode with me tomorrow. I am going to have her watch Serenity and see if I can get her hooked too.

I am so hoping that the movie flies and that we can double the size of the Browncoats and get Serenity back on TV.

I'll drink to that.

By the way, anybody read about the head of Fox stepping down?

SEVENPERCENT

The people I've shown it to have all gone out and bought copies- It's a great show, and I think if they would have given it half a chance we'd all be on here discussing a new season- Now if the people I've shown it to would only give me back my copies......

In addition to myself(of course), I've gotten at least two people to buy the firefly DVD's, so I think I've done my part. As well as made 3 other people fans of the show. Even if they don't buy the DVD's, they'll see the movies!

I got two people to buy it too. I got one hooked with some downloaded episodes long before the DVDs came out and he managed to get the DVDs before me (the jerk!) and the other one I got to sit down and watch the DVDs with me in three marathon viewings. He's actually still waiting for Amazon to deliver them.

I was reading the article about FOX's top TV guy "quiting" his job. It raised the following point:

"While insiders speculate on the "real" reasons for the move (after all, why would a 20-year veteran of executive suites quit a high-profile gig overseeing both the programming of the Fox network and the company's TV production unit to hang his own shingle as one of many producers trying to come up with a hit show?), Fox has not yet named a successor."

The answer is Firefly. DVD comes out, suddenly it is clear to FOX executives just what their man is doing. And he's gone.

My only hope is that his new venture fails and a couple years from now he winds up cold, starving and alone on the streets of LA starring longingly through a store window at a TV playing the new Firefly series, number one in the ratings for the second season in a row.

And he's wearing a ragged, brown coat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Gail Berman was the one responsible for giving the ax to firefly. Regardless, they all need to lose their jobs. All networks cancel good shows from time to time and keep horrible shows all the time, but Fox has the worst track record.

LOL!!!

Not so sure this guy is one of the hatchetmen, but if he was, I could think of no more fitting punishment.

Keep the Shiny side up

My wife and I bought the DVD for each other for Christmas. When I took the spare back to Borders to exchange, the clerk grabbed it for herself. Said she'd been trying for weeks to get a copy.

FOX as always been terrible with with the programming of their shows. It's hard to image that they never cancel The Simpsons afterall these years.

About 7 years ago they put the kill the tv series Earth Above & Beyond. That show was different and much better than many other scifi shows of that time.

Ironic humor is the best type of humor. Supposedly. It certainly is cruelest.
