You know. . .I KNOW that as long as Joss is the MAJOR player in the creation of the movie, and hopefully, the resurrection of the series, that he will not hesitate to make very vocal thanks to the fans who kept Firefly alive in hearts and minds and such, ESPECIALLY when he posted not too long ago on this very board his sentiments of how when he gets tired and discouraged, he comes here and gains strength from our enthusiasm.

I think it would be utterly appropriate for him to recognize a few folks by name when the time is appropriate. . .maybe in the closing credits or somesuch. Haken should definitely be one of them, as well as those who own/operate the other signifigant FF fansites.

You guys have created a very wonderful thing here. I'd love to see you 'get your props' when the time comes. To be an unsung hero is certainly a great thing, but to be a 'sung' hero. . .well. . .there's nothing like it in the world, I imagine. To paraphrase a GREAT leader. . .

==================================================
Everyone that ever ran a fansite had to be some kind of sumbitch or another. It's not about them.. .it's about what the people need.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I do think Haken deserves recognition for his site and the effort it takes to maintain it. I also think that all the fans should be thanked. It was those fans that got involved w/ the Variety ad, the post card campaign spearheaded by Firefly Support, kept the message boards going and the interest alive, bought the DVDs, and continue to clamor for the movie.

I have no doubt that Joss and crew will thank us, though personally just getting the movie onto the screen will be more thanks than I could hope to ask for from Joss or anyone at ME.

Some form of acknowledgement for Lux would be lovely, too.

I can see it now. . .

Premier night at the Chineese theatre. . .
Joss and Tim seated in the front row in their tuxes. . .

The house lights dim. . .the curtains open. . .

A black screen. . .and then in simple white text. . .

In honor of all the Browncoats out there.

Hmm. It's not really appropreate to thank someone outside a particular production for thier support. Only those who contribute to the success (or not) directly as given the high honour of 'special thanks'. Though it's fine to have it in the 'thanks too' bit in the end credits.

An appropreate 'tip o' the hat' could appear. Such as a passing ship with 'Haken' painted on it as it's name.

I duuno, they did it with B5 - just a one sheet thank you to those who kept believing, then of course the data stream at the end for all the cast and crew.

Just my opinion, but it is my view that guys like Haken and Lux stepped up and took over what should have been the job of the Fox network and promoted the show. The fact that guys like this have done such a great job increasing the Fanbase of the show, co-ordinating efforts to get the word out their, keeping our morale and interest up... and on their own time and money

I would call that a direct contribution to any success

Keep the faith,

This was posted by Joss on the buffista board...

Hey guys. Sorry to go wildly off-topic (and bring up Firefly), but I need a favor. I tried to post something on Fireflyfans.net discussion about "Fireflygasms" (no, it's not as shippery as it sounds.) Anyhoo, I can't seem to log in, 'cause I work the computer like I'm wearing Strongbad's gloves and I really wanted to post something there. So I'm gonna write it out here and hope 'n' pray (to the meaningless void) that one of y'all will be kind enough to kick it over to that thread. Okay then:

______________________

Dear fan type postguys --

Checking in to say: Rough @%&$#ing week. Trying to work the movie deal, juggling so many balls and dropping them all, basically ending the week going, "I'm done. I'm tapped. Last man down, I don't even think I can do this." Then I hap on this thread, hear all those kick moments and all y'all cooing over them, and I remember why I'm fighting so hard. So when you here dorky sounding things like "The fans' support kept us going", know that on occasion it is not only literally but very specifically true. As in, today. Thanks already.

And, more importantly:

-- Inara on the bed in Mal's room saying "I just hit my head is all". Deep funny.

-- River on the railing. Batgirl!

-- "Little man Loooved fire."

-- "They were little geisha dolls with big heads that wobbled!" "People LOVE those!" Kai made me rewind that four times.

-- "Dear Diary. Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy."

-- "Have you ever been with a warrior woman?"

-- "She ain't moving." When you think Kaylee's talking about Zoe and realize she means Serenity. And every time the lights first flicker in that show I've forgotten what ep I'm in and I get very worried.

-- The part where the crew finds out about River's REAL... oh wait. That's the movie. Never mind.

Or mind in a while.

Thanks again.

CHANNAIN

i DO aim to misbehave

I watched the credits at the end of The Two Towers recently. They listed entire fan clubs - members by name, even.

Haken deserves a big boatload of credit - I may be a tad biased - and Lux, and all the fans who have stuck with it through the bitter black.

People paid for that, through the official fan club, and it was only on the DVD.

Maybe that's a good source of funding for future production! :) I'd happily pay - and I don't care if my name's in the credits or not, I just want the new episodes! ;)
