Finally saw Serenity on a big screen...kind of...

My father in law moved into his new condo 6 months ago. The building has a media room which contains a digital projector with about a 12 foot screen, and an overwhelming sound system.
I only get down there a few times a year. The first time I tried the room, I watched Return of the King (sorry, but some things take precedence). I then looked forward throughout the fall, till Christmas week when I would get a chance to play Serenity.
My wife insisted that the kids got the first shift, so I had to patiently wait through Over the Hedge.
Now, I already have a 50” DLP at home which does great job. But the combo of the larger screen along with a sound system where you don’t have to worry about sleeping kids and neighbors is unmatched! Especially when you have the whole room to yourself, except for the bowl of popcorn, a coke, and a very comfy recliner.
There was one shot that stood out when viewing on a large screen. It’s the very end when Serenity is climbing through the storm and breaking into the sunlight and finally into space. Seeing that on a large screen allows you to see the love that kept her flying.

Felix...sounds like you had yourself a real shiny time watching it on that 12 foot screen...wish I could'a been there with ya.

I really regret never seeing Serenity in the movie theaters; that must have been an awesome experience for Browncoats.

I have to settle for my "old" 65 inch Mitsubishi wide-screen rear projection...not quite as high tech as today's plasmas & LCD's, but with DVD the quality is darn good.

Unfortunately, I gave up going to movie theaters a long time ago...just can't stand the rude people talking, wrapping Christmas presents, coughing, and "narrating" along the way...but for Serenity I would have made an exception had I known about Firefly in 2005.

I know exactly what you mean.

I am fortunate enough to own a projector at home, I must say that all of firefly and serenity looks truely awsome on a large screen. I occasionally just sit down with one of the disc's and watch the episodes back to back.

I was also fortunate enough to see serenity at the pictures. The opening scene on the bridge just made me realise what I was missing at home with a small screen and prompted me to get a projector, although I still prefer the seris to the BDM. It has been watched more than once on our own big damn screen

Hmmm, you act like your chance to see Serenity in a theater is over. And it is not. AND IT IS ESPECIALLY SHINY TO SEE SERENITY OR FIREFLY EPISODES IN A THEATER WITH A ROOM FULL OF BROWNCOATS!

Got any Landmark theaters around you or any theaters that do marathons? Several Landmark theaters have been screening Serenity around holdiay weekends. Basically, a theater owner will screen a movie if they know they will make a profit. It usually takes knowing at least 25 people will show up and EAT! SHINDIG! Theaters make most of their money from food and drink.
