Everytime I see "Objects in space", I get upset towards the end. Not because the episode sucks, not at all. It just means the end of Firefly.

I must say, rewatching the series in HD was actually really cool. It was so much cleaner than the DVD versions. Since Universal went to all the trouble to remaster the show in HD, I wonder if someone will rerelease Firefly in HD-DVD. Or at least better quality DVD's.

Not sure about hd-dvd as blu-ray is the next big thing. It's basically the same though. It's like the way dvd's are pretty much the same as a CD but with much more space. They could probably redo the whole series across 2 maybe 3 discs with much better quality.

Plus, you're right, OIS does seem sad because it signifies the end of FF. But thankfully not the end of FFF.net

Anybody who disagrees with any of this violently can do so. But no matter what you do, "You can't take the sky from me".

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

HD and blu-ray are duking it out right now; doesn't really make sense to say one or the other is 'the next big thing'. I've personally seen a lot more about HD than blu-ray, and Firefly has been converted to HD and not blu-ray format, and could easily be put on HD DVDs and probably will be if it becomes a more prominent format.
But anyway. That's not the point. The point is this; Objects in Space is not the end of Firefly. The last episode filmed was technically 'The Message' but Joss wanted to end it with what was, so far, his favorite, so he put Objects in Space as the last one. I always watch The Message last, and then watch Serenity, which is technically, at this point, the end of the crew's adventures, unless there's a sequel.
So don't hate this episode. It's too brilliant to hate. And if you must see something as the dreaded 'end' you can put that on The Message, a still good but far les brilliant episode.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Hey Phoenix fist HD is both HD DVD and Blu-Ray just you can't be both called HD DVD, and Blu-Ray Disc are set to be the future since they are out numbering HD DVD's nearly 3 to 1 and with the PS3 now out people don't necessarily have to spend a fortune on a player when they get it with a PS3 plus that gap will only increase as the PS3 get more popular.

Plus Microsoft admitted recently that if Blu-Ray Disc does become the future they will make a Xbox 360 removable Blu-Ray Disc player, this was just days after the news that Blu-Ray Disc is outselling HD DVD's

I could watch Firefly in black & white and it wouldn't lessen it's greatness for me one bit.

I never watched Objects in Space. I refuse to. It means there won't be any more new Firefly and that bums me out. It also bums me out that they destroyed the set and sold off all the props

Blu ray is selling now but It is the typical Sony format war issue. Every time something new is about to hit the market Sony has to introduce their own. Minidisc versus CDR, memory stick vs compact flash, cd(which they were part of developing) then introduced DAT. Sony has never won a format war. I can't see them doing it here because of what usually happens. The rest of the industry adops the "other" format. This leads to only Sony owners being able to use the their format. With a limited customer base; the media companies are forced to abandon it.

This time Sony have got the right people to back them...

The three biggest box-office winners of this year were, in order: Sony, Disney, and Fox & all three are only backing Blu-Ray Disc. When you consider that those three successful studios will be delivering last year's successful box office in home video this year, then that's an enormous advantage. The fourth is Warner, and they release in both formats, so it doesn't hurt. Universal are only major film company to be backing HD DVD's at the moment.

If you are going to be buying discs, you are going to be buying an awful lot of Blu-ray discs going forward—if you want Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond, or Spider-Man.

HD DVD's have Microsoft & Intel backing them at the moment which are some of the biggest companies in the computer industry but Blu-Ray Disc are being backed by Sony, Dell, & Alienware, Dell being the biggest PC selling company & Sony being in the top 5 plus Alienware the biggest gaming PC's.

Personally the only reason I prefer Blu-Ray Disc's is that Blu-Ray sounds way cooler than HD DVD.

What happened? He see your face?

Forgive my ignorance... this may have come and gone. But aren't some companies planning to release a player that plays both Blu-Ray and HD DVDs?

Is this still happening? I remember hearing about this last year.

STORYMARK

Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD 2 to 1, right now. Of the top 10 selling HD titles right now (including both formats), only 1 title is even available in HD-DVD (The Departed), and 3/4 of it's sales have been Blu-Ray. Some store chains are talking about cutting back their HD-DVD displays, as well. Plus, Blu-Ray has more studios backing it, now.

I personally won't be shelling out for either format anytime soon. But buying an HD-DVD player at this point looks like a realy, really bad bet.
