I suppose its inevitable in a thread like this that every SF series in existence will eventually get a mention, since not everyone has the same tastes.

Well, except Firefly, of course.

Still, its remarable to me that anyone could lump the unambitious but consistent and fun Stargate SG-1 in the same catagory as Andromeda.

I'm just suprised no one brought up "Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone"...wait I just did. Okay, bad movie, but has Molly Ringwold so not all is lost. Hey I got a thing for redheads.

Another one I'd add as pure cheese is "Ice Pirates", but I like cheese. Cheese is good especially when you know they're thinking,"Man this is cheeeeese." during filming.

I'll show my age here too, I guess.

"Dark Star" ... the end, which involves a panicked attempt at discussing phenomenology with an intelligent bomb about to go off (and take the ship that was supposed to drop it along with it) ... the end is *very funny*, but the zillion hours of tedium it takes to get to that point is hardly worth it.

... on another note, wasn't Battle Beyond the Stars the one with John Boy Walton as the hero? You've got to admit, the costuming of the buxom babe mercenary was inspired. LOL!

Yep that's the one! But even more inspired was the "is this different enough from the Enterprise yet so we won't get sued" ship he flew, complete with 36D titanium breasts!

Man they just don't make movies like that anymore...Thankgawd.

Yes. I also think that ship was the inspiration for the Enterprise D. It looked very similar, all it needed was the Dome section.

How could I have forgotten Lexx! You what else really sucked..the ending to the nw Planet of the Apes movie. All the way through I'm like,this movie is awesome and they're gonna make a cool ending that would mean a sequel I KNOW IT! But then they didn't..and I was sad.

Star Trek, really. I mean voyager..come on...don't tell me they were brilliant, because sometimes I just wondered why this was the new star trek show. Good old predictable Voyager.

AAAHHHHHHHH!!! I love the end of that movie. Yeah, it's so bad, it's good. And the bomb is hi-larious. It was a huge coup for me that my dad and brother allowed me to come along and see that bad thing. Now, what was it playing with? (remember when movies were double features?)

Oh, about the Trek movies. Yeah, some of them were bad. However, I think ST2, 4, 6, and 8 were solid enough.

i just don't know tbh, i couldn't get into it maybe i watched it upside down to everyone else...
i tried on numerous occasions to watch it but what really ended it for me, wasn't really the shows fault, i never really got much intake on what goes on the TV.. this is why i've probably got a bad sense of good and awful sci fi, worse when star trek is always put on, the DS9 theme still sends me shivers.

Wow, I rated Babylon 5 and Farscape as two of my favorite all time sci fi shows until I discovered Firefly.

Both of them IMO had compelling characters and interesting story arcs.

Pilots used to throw us mechanics beer bashes. They'd fly in with cases of Coors ('cause pilots are cheap - no offense to Static :). We'd ask them why they didn't buy us real beer. I realize it isn't the most gracious thing, but you'd think that someone would realize that enlisted troops still owned taste buds.

My big time bad sci-fi has to be the "war of the worlds" second season it made no sense what so ever (the first was pretty inconsitant but still entertaining) also movie wise many people say starship troopers well get this they made a sequal which from what I've heard is truely terrible.

Edit: oh yeah they made time cop 2 as well !!

Any movie that was shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000. The show was great, the movies were not. I remember one in particular called "Space Mutiny". Geez what a waste of time. The hero looked like that jock that was so popular in high school but was also such an idiot. The effects were dumb (it was an old movie, but good sci fi does not always need special effects). The only reason to watch the movie was for Mike, Crow and Tom Servo. :) I miss that show.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this one (unless I missed it above): Masters of the Universe! It starred Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, Meg Foster, Billy Barty, & an as of then unknown Courtney Cox.

It was terrible. I liked the original Masters of the Universe as a kid (though the original pales in comparison to the new cartoon my son watches), but this movie was a complete bomb.

Actually, I have to admit to being young enough to see it on video, but old enough to get the philosophy. :-)

I don't think I've ever actually personally seen a double feature ... but I think they were still floating around when I was a kid. :-)

Check out the episodes with the original cast. Joel, Tom Servo, Crow, Dr. Clayton Forester and TV's Frank.

As a Twin City-an, I can attest that many of the jokes told are best understood by our breed. We get stuff that goes by you. :)

As awful as Highlander 2 was... At least it had some funny moments. I really wanted to get my money back for Highlander 3! And it was a showing in a special rated theatre, where they showed movies on a sort of rerun. Converted to USdollars, I think I paid about one dollar... But I wanted it back! Desperately!

Apart from that: if a show or movie is cheesy it makes up for the bad, I guess. Some shows are a whole lot of fun when not taken too seriously. I had a great laugh watching Tremors the movie for example.

The last one and a half seasons of Lexx were pretty terrible, but the first couple were great, well story-wise anyway. The acting wasnt so great, but the story was good. Also as bad sci-fi goes, I found that Farscape was insanely hard to get into, I mean I'm all for in-story but JESUS H CHRIST, you can't just pick up and episode and start watching without being completely lost. Mutant X and Andromeda are pretty bad now, but Andromeda used to be good. I think that the best part of Andromeda is the names of the episodes. Whoever said Babylon 5 was bad should be shot... unless they were talking about Crusade, then you're ok.

The last 2 Matrix movies weren't terrible, but they were definately in the bad catagory.
How about Timeline and Paycheck... yeah just plain bad.

You only gotta scare him.

Well I just have to say that there was only one Hightlander movie I don't care what anyone else has to say there is only one.

Earth 2 that sucks so much, especially at the end of it. Andromeda when down hill so fast after the guy that developed the series was given his walking papers, MutantX could have been better but went down hill fast after the first season. Voyager I couldn't watch the show anymore after the first three episodes. Logans Run the TV series don't work for me. Day of the Trifids the movie was not good the TV min series was way better. It didn't end with Salt water being the solution. No solution was around. There as a time when on network decided to spend the Summer airing a whole bunch of sci-fi tv pilots and they all stunk one was another version of the Knight Rider series taken place in the future where civilization has taken a turn for the worse Knight Rider 2010 with Hudson Leick, come to think it the Team KnightRider series had a smell to it.

Besides Mutant X which I absolutley despise and am very relieved that it will not be tainting our screens again in the future, Andromeda lost the plot after season 2 so I gave up. As for the Matrix Reload - eek didn't even watch the third one, like Highlander for me "there can be only one". And Mercy Point, which I had completley forgotten until this post refreshed my memory dear god! I'm pleased that other folks don't like Starship Troopers either its frelling awfull - but I have too say I rank both B5 and Farscape with the best!

The single worst Sci Fi ever - a series that was shown here in the UK by the BBC several years ago, it was a Gerry Anderson production (loved Space 1999 etc) called Space Precinct. It had some bloke in it from Knots Landing I think he played someone called Gary? Anyways it is The worst ever...........and then some. Trust me, its very..........well,absolutley frelling CRAP!!!!!

Space Precinct was bad... But cheesy too. I thought it was funny. Mutant X is awful.

Firefly, Farscape and Stargate SG1 are my favourite sci-fi series. I watch all of them on DVD. Firefly started airing about four weeks ago, and Farscape is on rather irregularly on a very inconvenient time (sunday mid afternoon or so - nor right for dark humour and scary plottwists and Scorpius). Stargate SG1 was aired on a weekday at four in the afternoon ages ago. Aparently the channel manager thought it was a kid's show...

Btw, Firefly is running on primetime on Saterdaynights here (The Netherlands), against Andromeda and Idols... I'm not sure how well it is doing. I'm telling everyone in my family and my colleagues to go watch Firefly.
