DOMSDAFIRDA

This takes place in the Baltimore Comic-con where Scott Allie, Jo Chen and George Jeanty sit at the Buffy Panel:

Quote:

A three-part question came next. A fan asked if there was a chance of "Dollhouse" comic, if there was going to be a series revealing the past of "Serenity's" Shepherd and if Dark Horse would be getting former Buffy beaus Spike and Angel from IDW, the company which owns the rights to them.

Allie replied with a simple "yes," but expanded on that after the laughter died down. First he explained that Angel and Spike have appeared, but likely wouldn't again.

Quote:

Allie then explained that a writer has been hired for the Shepherd story, but they are still looking for an artist. He went to explain that Ron Glass, the actor who portrayed Shepherd Book, asked Whedon to give him some backstory on the character's past because people were always asking him for answers about the shadowed history. Whedon told him that it would be a comic, but that he could reveal these four things, three of which Allie could remember: Book found god in a bowl of soup, one part of him is artificial and he got his name from a dead man. When the artist has been found, Ron Glass will announce the creative team.

I believe the writer who is chosen to be part of the team is Jim Krueger.

Good to see some progress on this. Even Ron Glass didn't know a writer had been hired at Dragon Con.

Finally, Book's life moves, no inches forward.

My guess, it will be the fastest selling comic book in quite some time.

I wonder if Joss ever thought of making Firefly a graphic novel.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...........

I was on the Browncoat Cruise when Ron first revealed the news of the upcoming Comic Trilogy, and the four details about Book. The four details are:

1) Shepherd Book found God in a bowl of soup

2) A part of Book is artificial (thats a literal quote)

3) Book took his name from a man he killed, and

4) Book is known for his greatest mistake.

These came to Ron as a "birthday gift" from Joss. I'm a bit disappointed to hear that a third party is writing the Comic storyline. Joss was supposedly going to do it. This implies that either Joss doesn't have the time, or (worse yet) that he's losing interest in the 'Verse. -Say it ain't so, Joss!

I do agree with you, Bytemite, but still.... he was supposed to write this Comic Series. He had definite ideas for where the Book story should go and yet now, two years later, nothing has been written. Now we hear from DH that it will be written by a third party. It breaks my heart. I want this story done right. It completes a "Trilogy of Trilogies", and it should be Shiny. Here's hoping it will be.

I didn't think Krueger did a good job with "The Other Half" so hopefully he doesn't write this comic.

At Dragon Con, Ron Glass phrased some of these 4 things a little differently:

1) Shepherd Book found God in a bowl of soup,

2) Book has an artificial body part,

3) Book took his name from a man he killed, and

4) Book is best known for his greatest failure.

I told Mr. Glass that I thought Book had an epiphany (found god) after drowning a guy in a bowl of soup, perhaps alphabet soup, and that he has an artificial heart.

I am soooo looking forward to this comic, I need to know Book's story!

Yeah, finding God will probably be a much, much darker affair than it sounds. Drowning a guy is a possibility, or possibly primordial melted-rock-and-people soup.
