Its so hard to choose. I love them all for so many different reasons. I could justify any of the characters being my favourite if I wanted or needed to. But dammit if you're going to make me choose then I will go with Wash and River. Wash because he's so funny and River because she's so cute and also the most interesting character.

River and Book, because they're both mysterious and have lots of surprises in store for us. Bwah ha ha!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

If I had to choose one, it would definitely be Mal. I have a lot in common w/ Mal, and his charisma, wit, and dedication to his crew make him a man that many can respect and aspire to.

Jayne and River. They're both number one in my fav character poll. ^_^ I do love all them, but those two just stand out the most with their major problems, jokes, kickassness, or actions. Also, *in a cooing voice* they're so cute!

Kaylee. It was definately Kaylee. You can write that down. I'm a sucker for a mechanic. Especially an insanely beautiful one.

Yeah, and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin' steak.

GOTKAYLEE

It took me a really long time to decide on a favorite character, but I finally decided on Kaylee. (As if you couldn't tell.) Then I rewatched the entire series and I realized that I absolutely adore Inara as well. So I love them both equally, but for very different reasons.

LOL! ... but what if they do like the ST movies and kill off the ship itself a few times? Eh? Eh? What then?

BRUISERSMOM

I think that it's hard to choose. I like Simon because I identify with some of the problems that he has relating to the other characters on the show. I sometimes have them because of my education level and the fact that my parents wanted me to behave "properly" growing up. I've had friends and boyfriends who don't have all or part of that background and it creates akwardness in our relationships, unless the person just doesn't care about the differences or likes them because they like having friends from a variety of backgrounds.

I think of two situations on Firefly where Simon and I intersect. One is in Jaynestown where Simon tells the crew about the ancient Egyptians and fermented bread. Kaylee doesn't seem to know how to engage Simon in a conversation about this subject, so she quipps, "Gee Simon that's real historical" and the Simon drops the subject. I've had this problem with people who aren't as educated as I am. Like Simon and Kaylee in Objects in Space, we get along great when we're sharing drinking stories but we don't connect when trying to discuss more intellectual subjects.

The other instance is, of course, at the end of Jaynestown when Simon and Kaylee are sitting in Simon's room and Kaylee says that she doesn't understand why Simon needs to be so proper. Well, it's how Simon was socialized to behave and the socialization stuck so well that it became who he is. In my case, I'm not living the life of an exile but I've had boyfriends who don't understand that aspect of me and want to change it. I think of a time when I and my ex-boyfriend were going out to dinner. He let me pick the restaurant and I picked a very nice Italian restaurant in Los Angeles where you shouldn't show up in a crumpled tee shirt and jeans. You should dress a little nicer for this restaurant. My ex-boyfriend couldn't understand why he couldn't go to this restaurant in jeans and a tee shirt. Then, he couldn't understand why I wanted to put on make-up and put on a dress and nylons to go to the restaurant. Then, he also couldn't understand why I needed to iron the dress because it had become wrinkled in my suitcase. He didn't understand these things that I do because the situation warrants it. He didn't understand that we were taking a break from our usual routine and not going to Subway or the Olive Garden and that this situation warranted dressing up a bit. He went in jeans and a tee shirt and I went in a dress with makeup and my hair done. We were seated by the kitchen door in the back with everyone else not "properly" attired. Dinner was fabulous but in the end, even after we had walked in and out of the restaurant with all of its nicely attired clients, he didn't understand why he needed to dress up a little.

KIQUOA

I "identify" with Zoe. She's, well, Terse, grim, loyal and ultimately pragmatic. She does not let her loyalty to Mal waver even when she disagrees with his choices. In fact, the only time her loyalty to Mal takes back seat is in War Stories, she chooses to save her husband. She's who I want to be in many ways (I'd perfer to remain male... unless I could have her hair).

After much debate, my "favorite" character is Jayne. He seems the most consistant through the show and is hillariously unpredictable. AND now he has a rainstick.

My favorite character(s) would be Zoe -cause she's strong, smart and a kick-ass kind of girl, and Book -cause he's a mystery!

Well, Mal of course. I mean, there are too many reasons to list regarding that...but my other favorite is Saffron. I dunno, something about her is very appealing in that "I swear I wouldn't succumb to her 'training'" way!

I am inclined to say that it is Wash only because I very much enjoy watching Alan on screen, but I do think that Jayne has the best lines, you never know what is going to come out of his mouth. He's just so damn funny.
