....about the BDM !

Feel free to put this on other forums:

Rolling Stone Magazine has published a review of movies for this
Autumn but they kind of forgot to put in the BDM.

We need to awaken them to the error of their ways but we have to be
nice about it. Here's the movie board thread on this:

um.viewtopic&p=332236#332236

I've just sent the following to letters@rollingstone.com. Feel free
to copy and modify it but keep in mind we need to be polite and
convince them the BDM has merits of its own, not just because Joss
Whedon did it.

Get writing!

Email subject: "The future is worth fighting for"

"Did you forget about "Serenity" in your review of movies coming out
this Autumn?

Or are you going to do an in-depth review ?

Seriously, this movie has been called (and may well be) the next Star
Wars! It's powerful enough for Universal Pictures to get the actors
locked into a 3 movie franchise.

It's a real roller-coaster of a ride with something great for everyone.

If you like believable characters, a great, well written story that's
snappy, suspenseful, witty, dramatic, funny and tragic (and sometimes
all before you can draw a breath) you'll like Serenity.

If you like tough handsome anti-hero men, beautiful sexy kick-ass women,
a spaceship that's a character all by herself and enough peril to make
them fight for their lives you'll like Serenity.

If you like government conspiracy theories, assassins, cannibals,
psychic phenomena or a political subtext relevant to today you'll like
Serenity.

It was conceived, written and directed by Joss Whedon, the creator of
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. It is the natural continuation of
his critically acclaimed space western TV series "Firefly".

"Firefly", shown on the Fox network, had a harrowing life, as TV shows
go. It was broadcast in the wrong episode order, forced to ditch the
original pilot (which was shown LAST !), pre-empted for sports on a
regular basis, in the Friday night "time slot of death" and continually
tinkered with by the network before being cancelled.

The results? Only 11 episodes were shown, out of 14 produced. An
instant growing fan base that demanded a DVD release (with all 14
episodes plus extras). Massive and continuous DVD sales and a huge and
growing international fan base spread across the planet. A $40 million
movie deal with Universal (and possibly two sequels). A sold out world
premier at the Ediburgh International Film Festival. A viral marketing
movement with extended preview screenings unprecedented in the film
business.

When tickets went on sale for the Edinburgh International Film Festival,
Serenity fans crashed both the phone system and the web servers.
Initially scheduled for two screenings, the Film Festival organizers
quickly added two more screenings. All sold out in hours - some in
minutes.

Already there are plans for fans to camp out at cinemas prior to
opening night (30 Sept in the US). How many films have that happen
these days? As far as I know, only Star Wars and Harry Potter.

Have a look at www.serenitymovie.com

I look forward to your review."
