Maybe this has been discussed already, forgive me if it has...

Is there any hope for the Sci-Fi channel to pick up firefly? Firefly's ratings are better than even thier highest rated show, and it fits into thier genre/viewership, obviously. I actually never watch the Sci-Fi channel, but would start if they had Firefly... I s'pose the biggest issue would be the cost of production... could they afford to make a show like firefly? oh well, just wishfull thinking, I guess.

Oh, here we go, according to www.gateworld.net, "Sci-Fi's top-rated series usually receive ratings between 1.0 and 2.0". We beat that didnt we?

Does the word "Farscape" mean anything to you?

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. AFAIK, FOX still reaches almost twice as many homes as Sci-Fi does. This is true for all broadcast networks. Until a few months ago, you could not combine the entire viewer base of all cable TV channels and have more people than the broadcast networks en masse were drawing. A show on FOX should always heavily outdraw a cable network program in the current environment.

As for The "Sci-Fi" Channel in particular, read the thread linked below to see why few anticipate Firefly to even be considered by their execs. If there is any hint of spaceships or complex drama, they don't want it.

And here is a tidbit from an article over at imdb.com about Farscape - - -

"It was brilliant when you got it, and some of the characterizations were truly amazing, but it took a little too much work" for viewers."

That was from Bonnie Hammer Sci Fi's President. I read it as this - Viewers are idiots and you'll watch what we put on, anyway.

There is no home at Sci Fi for Firefly or any other series of quality. Look forward for more direct to video crappy movies instead.

farescape, sliders, the chronicle, etc etc.
the sci-fi channel is no longer interested in showing real sci-fi programming and hasn't been for some time.
