Okay, my husband was playing Everquest the other day and a bunch of his guild were talking about "Serenity" and he said someone was saying that Alan Tudyk had

said that he would like to be killed off in the movie so he could pursue his career in movies.

That being said, the other thing that was brought up was that after the TV show was cancelled Alan took the red button that he rigged up for Mal in the cockpit in the episode "Out of Gas" with him when he left. THen when he heard that there might be a chance for a movie he gave it back to Joss and said something to the effect of "Just push this and we will all come back".

Now...whether this happened or not, I don't know. Just thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone knows if there is truth to the rumors or not. Let me know!

We all thought it might be a matter of money. Alan is flying pretty high right now, and if a sequel gets made, he may be too expensive to have come back.

However, these rumors were pretty much squashed when some the actors that attended the sneak previews stated that basically they were afraid to talk to Alan after having read the script. The reason being is that he LOVED playing Wash, and it was going to be a big shock to him that he'd been written out.

As for the button, according to Joss, he gave it to him (I believe) on the final day of shooting when Joss gave his "I won't rest until I find us a home" speech.

In any case, Alan/Wash will be sorely missed.

"The last thing I want is that any of our descendents should look back in some years and despise us for not daring to act when we had so much capacity to act. We must dare to seek how, why and on what we agree. We shall thus be able to join together to look for alternative solutions and new ways of managing the world's challenges. Being diverse is our richness, acting together will be our strength". (Federico Mayor; 02-04-01;
UBUNTU Constituent Meeting).

This is from Serenity the Official Movie Magazine:

Alan Tudyk on Wash's death: "I really liked Wash's fate. I was a fan of it. Even when we did the show I thought Wash was a good character to kill. In my head, I thought two seasons and then Joss should kill me. No one would expect it. I even mentioned it to Joss once, about Wash being a good sympahetic kill."

I can field that one.

I got mine @ Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Of course that was about a month ago. Not sure if they are still on the shelf.

There are a number of them cropping up on Ebay though. Just type in "Serenity Official Movie Magazine" & you will see a bunch of auctions.

If you can find a local comic shop, try that too (if you can't find it at the bookstore). I got mine at a comic shop a little while ago... I think they're more likely to have the obsessive fan stuff than your average bookstore.

This about Alan giving Joss the red button is true. It's in the commentary for from the DVD set.

I found mine at a large magazine and newspaper shop called Newsland, not sure if there are any outside of Denver or not. The publisher is teh same one that does the Buffy and Angel mags, Titan Magazines. They have a web site here:
http://www.titanmagazines.com/titanmag/app
You can order it direct from them and save the over hyped prices on eBay.

PS this is a US link, the UK one is slightly different.
