Serenity's budget vs. intake. HELP!

Um little nervous here. The way i've read it on fandago and the number is that Serenity cost more to make than it brought in revenue-wise. That doesnt'bode well for sequels does it?

Nope it sure don't, 40 mil to make minus the 22 mil of sales made in the US equals a lost of 18 mil. In short, it all depends on the director and who he is in the hollywood world, if his name was Tony Scott he would be able to make movies w/out any compromise.

Universal doesn't get to keep 100% of the box office receipts. At best 50%.

And you're not accounting for the ~$10mil US marketing costs that aren't included in the $39mil production budget.

Then again you're not including the international box office revenues... etc, etc, etc.

Whoa a 28 second commercial on Sci-Fi cost $10 million cuz that's all the marketing i saw for Serenity one itty itty itty bitty commercial
