Does anyone know of a website where I could find the plans or layout of Serenity? It would be helpful for a fanfic I'm working on!

Thanks

You might try

wavesintheblack.aimoo.com

or

serenityrpg.com

If you're looking for hardcopy, the deckplans and elevations are in the Serenity RPG by Margaret Weis' publishing company. It's a good game if you haven't seen it.

Try these deckplans for your fanfic. They were some I made based off of the TV series, not the movie. They are accurate for internal filming, not for what will fit into Zoic's CGI Serenity. Though they almost fit within the CGI ship confines. If you have any questions, feel free to email.

Terrific work on the deck plans! Have you done any tinkering to see how they'd look in a side cutaway of Serenity? I know they won't fit the Zoic model, but by how close?

P.S. How did you draw the plans (what program)? I do blueprints, too, but with MS Paint and I'm always looking for better ways to get them done.

thank you, but yes, i have seen that. beautiful stuff, and you can still buy it on amazon for $60. but i really would like to speak with someone who either already has the blueprint pack (and might let me look at it for my research), or someone who is deeply familiar with the infrastructure of the firefly class ship. any help would be appreciated!

Hey there!

Don't know how I can help, but ask away.

I haven't messed with those plans since I first created them. Well before Quantum Mechanix published theirs or even the ones in the Serenity Role Playing Game book. As I've stated in earlier posts, the blueprints were created from 100s of screenshots and mulitple viewings of the episodes. In my opinion, they are about as accurate as you're going to get to the actual filming sets without the real construction blueprints for the Firefly production itself. The only guess work was the unviewed areas of the sets and they are marked on the blueprints with dotted lines instead of solid.

I had wanted to create a side view of the sets too, but time got away from me as did family life and the side shots were started but put on indefinte hold.

I'm not a professional architect or designer, but had some tech drawing classes in my youth. The best program I had on hand to create what I wanted was Microsoft Visio. It allowed me to make lines of specific length down to the inch or at any particular angle. I was very pleased and actually quite amazed when I finished the two levels of the ship that they actually lined up, fitting together. It showed me that I wasn't too far off in what the producers were actually trying to create.

Anyway, once again, ask away.

would you be willing to send me higher resolution versions of the drawings you did? i think they're really spectacular and just what i need for my thesis. i can't seem to find anyone with the blueprint set (other than low res jpgs on the web). of course you would be credited with the drawings!

thank you,

i need it to look super crisp on 11x17. also to be able to zoom in and read the writing clearly. so i would say at least 300 pixels per sq inch. what do you think?

thanks,
sarah

There is a PDF version of the blueprints. The images are actually pretty good, but the text isn't really legible.

It's at http://www.serenitystuff.com/2007/03/29/first-look-at-the-serenity-blu

/

A direct link to the pdf is http://blog.quantummechanix.com/insider_images/issue_1.1/QMx_Serenity_

thanks for your help! i already have those links. gaidheal did some of his own, which i happen to think are much more informative! however, if you know someone with high res versions of the QM blueprints, send them my way! too much information is never a bad thing.
