I just wanted to see if anyone else was pissed when Fox gave Point Pleasant and Tru Calling the axe? Maybe it was just me.

Tru Calling (IMO) was repetitive in the worst possible way during it's first season...
when they hired Jane Espenson to help write in the second season the show developed some wonder plot twists and I became much more interested in it,
but of course THEN it was canceled.

Point Pleasant OTOH just totally sucked.

just my own personal opinion of course.

Now if you want to talk about being disappionted in the cancelation of Wonder Falls, then I'll agree with you!

I enjoyed Tru Calling... though I never saw any of the second episode seasons after it was cancelled or whatever.

I never saw Point Pleasant, but it's on my Netflix list.

Wonderfalls was another really good one. I just bought the series on dvd. Forgot to put that one on there. Point Pleasant was slow, but I know if it would have been able to go a full season it would have been a really great show. They cancelled it when it started to get good. I had to wait forever to buy it on dvd.

I was just starting to really dig Tru Calling when Jane came onboard. I love Eliza so I tuned in from the start but it just wasn't a 'complete' show, like those of Joss'. It must be hard to put out material that you know doesn't cut it in comparison to such greats as BtVS, Angel and Firefly.

It seems like networks aren't investing in anyone's vision anymore. People are being directed to watch television that is choppy, un-funny and insulting to anyone with a sliver of intellect.

Shows that should have been given at least a full 2 seasons are getting dumped willy nilly. (Firefly... need I say more?) But I will say more. Just look at the fate of Millennium, Space: Above and Beyond and Harsh Realm. These Chris Carter projects had varrying life-spans but they all got canned too soon and were never given enough attention to gain their footing.

I list Tru Calling among these casualties and, quite frankly, find it hard to commit to new shows when I know the networks to be shady and undermining.

How is that Hope and Faith or Yes Dear are still on the tube when the truly masterful Firefly got the axe?

Im really surprised nobody picked up Firefly when it was cancelled, and im even more surprised that nobody picked up Angel for the 6th season, especially since Buffy just finished. Your right, I have no idea how stupid ass shows like Hope and Faith and other sitcoms stay on. I wish I was more of an idiot so I could run Fox, Upn etc....Idiots!

I had high hopes for UPN as an alternative 'saviour' for Firefly and Angel. After all, it managed to save Buffy from a similar fate as that of Angel's. But alas, there were no takers.

I wish other networks could have stepped up, with a budget and enough smarts to leave Joss/Mutant Enemy alone with the creative process.

I wish, I wish...

And still, you can turn on the tv at anytime and find a rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond... (I know this was a much loved sitcom, I never understood why though:)

I shared the common opinion that Point Pleasant wasn't very good. Then, I saw the whole series and it had improved a hell of a lot by the end. There are several excellent episodes. They'd moved away from the soapier elements toward the end, killed off a couple of the vapid pretty boys and sent another one spiraling down to evil minionhood and/or death, and started focusing on the better actors. So, yeah, I'm disappointed it got killed off.
