Does anyone know where I can find a listing of future conventions in the Michigan area? I never seem to know these things, and by the time they roll around, I can never go.

At last.

On online listing? I dunno. I can relate the ones I know of...and hopefully other folks will also supply some.

January (generally third weekend--Detroit area): Confusion SF Con Web page: http://www.stilyagi.org/cons/2007/

April (formerly in May--Detroit area): Penguicon, SF and Linux Con. Web page: http://www.penguicon.org/

May (Memorial day weekend--East Lansing) MediaWest*con, all media con...no celebrity guests, pre-reg only. Web site: http://www.mediawestcon.org/

July (Freshman con...their first year! Novi) ConVersation a relaxicon, ie: no celebrity guests; age restricted con (ages 16+ only) Web site: http://con-versation.com/

October 6-8 Conclave (Romulus--across the street from Detroit Metropolitan Airport) SF Con. Web site: http://www.conclavesf.org/

I also found a yahoo group that helps folks keep up with the convention scene here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MichiganFandom/

With the exception of the new con, I've been to all the other ones more than once, but I met the folks throwing the new con at 'Fusion. They're a pretty nice bunch.

I had to give up going to some...because I now got the Pennsic War an that eats about $1000 as its a two week SCA event in Pennsylvania.

I use a couple of online listings. They're not Michigan specific, but they're fairly inclusive:

http://www.locusmag.com/Conventions.html

and

http://news.ansible.co.uk/conlisti.html

But neither one of them lists the Fan Fest in Toronto this Labor Day weekend (for which they're working on snagging a BDH - cross your fingers!). This was formerly known as Comic Con or something like that but they have 4 separate cons including Horror and SF. They got Adam and possibly someone else last year. Probably due to the good timing since it was less than a month to the BDH.

Oh, and I mention that cuz I kind of think of Canada as an extension of Michigan. Apologies to any Canadians who read this!

Cool. I think I'll be book marking those myself.

*sigh* That one's out for me. Pennsic wipes me out of cashy-cash two weeks prior to that. Drat!

Ditto...it's California that I view as another country.
