How about Tim Minear for Serenity 2?

I know that folks often point to the fact that Joss is tied up with WW now, and then is doing Goners afterwards, as support for the position that there could not be a Serenity sequel for several years -- in other words, until Joss is done with WW and Goners.

But what about Tim Minear? Chris Buchanan, the Exec. Producer of Serenity, said on the Signal podcast several months ago that he would love to have Minear involved with future Serenifly stuff. I don't know his availability, but isn't it conceivable that maybe he could write and/or direct a sequel instead of Joss (or with Joss' blessing)?

Just a thought.

I think it would have to be with Joss' blessing regardless. But yes Tim could possibly be involved in a sequel either as writer and/or director either alone or in collaberation with Joss. Or Joss could probably do WW and Goners and Serenity 2. Depending on how much involvement he has in each project they can be running somewhat concurrently. It's not like it takes a huge amount of time to make a movie (unless you're doing all the work from raising funds to marketing and everything in between.)

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Tim Minear wrote one of the best episodes of Firefly, and he knows the...secrets if comentary is any indicator. I'm sure there'd be some collaboration with Joss, but I don't see why not. That'd be shiny!

If he can make it as good as "out of gas" or better, then i don't see why not.

Interesting you should bring this up. At last year's Flanvention, I told Mr. Minear in person that I (for one) would be perfectly happy to have Serenity 2 placed in his hands.

Okay, I suppose it was a bit of a geeky thing to say, but it was about the only thing I could think of at the moment. Especially since at that time I hadn't watched Wonderfalls, so I couldn't tell him how great I thought that series was!

I don't disagree on any particular point.

DonCoat, did he respond with anything? A knowing smile, light banter saying he'd love to?

I, like you, would be all for that!
