MODO

Hey

This is Modo making his first thread.

I just thought i would say a little about my opinion toward The whole Joss universe and Firefly.

When i was young (About 5, or 6 years ago) i was a BIG StarTrek fan (TNG) I loved the whole idea about there being a federation, blah blah blah. As i got older I found a show called Buffy. Buffy redesigned my concepts of TV, I loved its boldness and unpredictablility. Now that i had Buffy, Star Trek just wasnt the same...

And now the Genius Joss (et al) has done Firfly. I know, i know im not expecting it be like Startrek, or anything ive seen before, but its a Space SCIFI, and its got a touch of Joss (Well probably a hell of a lot of Joss after all he did create it :smile But its like my favourite genre and best writers/directors have been put in a blender and poured into Firefly. I SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT.

Does anyone think the same (Or is the doctor right --- Im crazy)

PS :- I think think this emotion icon

Is the best emotion icon ive ever seen

Modo,

Joss has been fortunate enough to surround himself with a great writing and producing staff, and getting Tim Minear for Firefly from Angel is a big bonus, though I will miss him not doing Angel.

I personally have been waiting for good sci-fi since Babylon 5 ended, and I have a feeling this could be it.

"I sense something...something I've not felt since..."
or however that Darth Vader line goes.

Indeed. I love what he's done on ANGEL and he will be missed, but I'm interested in seeing what he can do with FIREFLY. I do think he is more suited to FIREFLY, since the pilot seems to be more serious in tone than ANGEL and that seems to suit Minear's sensibilities. We'll see...

You said it! That's the benchmark (along with SPACE: ABOVE AND BEYOND, but some may disagree) and I'm confident that FIREFLY will equal or better BABYLON 5.

Now if we could just find out when it's gonna be on...

Daniel.

I'm honestly not one for sci-fi series or space westerns.

It's just that... it's Joss. My Buffy obsessions transfers.

I'm a big Buffy and Star Trek (and sci-fi in general) fan so I'm hoping Firefly is a huge success. If Whedon can bring the fun and unpredictability of Buffy to a space show then maybe it will challenge Enterprise to do the same. I think there is a lot to like about Enterprise, but man it is SO predictable. I grew up watching Next Gen from the first season when I was 8 years old, and the older I get the more boring Star Trek seems to get. I go back and can watch Next Gen and DS9 episodes again and again. Certain Voyager & ENT ep's I like to see over, but for the most part I really have no desire to see them more than once, and sometimes I'm bored in the middle of them. I'm rarely bored with an episode of Buffy, even if it happens to be one of the not-so-well written ones.

I hope the Mutant Enemy staff kicks butt!

Just bumping this up, thank god for broadband....to see all the threads from 2002 (too bad there isnt a page by page function), have to load up all of the threads from the begining. I wonder if anyone from when this board started are stil laround(besides Haken of course). I think this was before even Firefly on the air...

I am doing this because I saw a threadsaying today is the 4th year anniversary of the airing of the real pilot last.

Its soo mcuh fun people guesing what joy will be in firefly before it was even on the air. And I loved the comment about adam baldwin, and wondering if his shirt will be off(and how many episodes he will be in *snickers*)
