Archer and I are collaborating on a story arc using characters from his Other Side of Serenity and we need to have a translation for 'beautiful gift'. I used a Mandarin/English dictionary to come up with Mei li wu, but I don't know if this is correct or if the mei is a positional modifier in Mandarin which should follow the translation for gift. If anyone can help us, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Kate

I asked a Chinese colleage for a translation for "precious gift." She said to use piao liang li wu. Hope this helps.

Very much obliged, Lucciola. Could you ask if that's in Cantonese or Mandarin? We're looking for the Mandarin translation.

There ain't nothin' I can't overcome or come to know. So lay your heavy load down on me, strip everything I have away. I am not your prisoner, I am not afraid.

I asked her for the Mandarin, so that's what she gave me. I'm looking forward to reading your fanfic!

If it was just my story, I'd be going on about your rampant masochism right now, but Defender is around to give my scribblings a degree of respectability.

We've gotten some conflicting reports on the translation and are discussing it right now. The story is somewhere between half to two-thirds done right now and I'm hoping we can have it up by the weekend.

We very much appreciate your help. I do believe the major coastal city mentioned in an upcoming story of mine just got named Lucciola. ;)

Rampant masochism????

FYI: Lucciola is Italian for Firefly.

Fanfic is pretty much all that has kept me going; that, and occasional happy moments such as movie script and an actual date for the DVD release. My deep gratitude to all who write new stories....

Rampant masochism for looking forward to one of MY stories, see. Ha ha ha. Bad joke, moving right along.

Hmmm... well, there were Italian settlers on the coast, y'see. Who... brought fireflies with them. Or... rode in on Firefly-class transports... yeah, that's the ticket.

We're still flyin' 'round here. Keep on keepin' the faith.
