its true, i seem to not be able to let go. ive watched it and re watched loads of times and i keep feeling it, not just seeing firefly and joining in the emotion, but actually feeling serenity. when i listen to the sound track, i get lost in my own little world, full of kaylees smiling face, mals firm voice, the shepards calm cheerful manner, its all inside me, pouring in and out of every tiny hair and every tiny pore of my skin, weaving through me and sending jolts strait to my inermost consiousness, filling me with pure raw emotion, anger, fear, love, happiness, exploding out of me with a power i have never felt before. its as if its branded me.

"once you enter serenity you never leave, you just learn to live there." zoe washburn.

its true, if felt it, is anyone else effected like me or is it just an obsessive (though somewhat poetic) 13 year old who is unable to let go? coz i need to know, am i going crazy or does firefly affect everyone like this?

im not to fussed about about the movie, they killed off wash

if I didn't say part of it is being 13, I'd be lyin'.

but only in the sense that it may feel overwhelming. as you get older, you still recognize that it is a very special part of your life, but you know that if you don't earn a paycheck, how will you pay the electric bill that allows you to connect to the internet so that you can keep current on Firefly stuff?

(none of this was belittling your post or making light of the topic, just saying I was there at 13 over something a lot less artistically worthy, so I know a little bit of it is the age.)

but, man, you have really good taste!

thanks for the shiny post!

edit : you know, I fussed a bit over the wording of this and it still sounds condescending to me. As far as the quality of the 'verse, I agree with you 100%. Please just imagine I wrote something more erudite and supportive. Because it's how I was feelin'. Thanks.

Just remember that you are among many others who feel the same way you do!

Bigwolf18:

You have been fortunate. I am much older than you and had to wait a long time for this show. Star Trek kept me going, but it was not enough. I knew something more real had to come along.

The following is my standard comment on this show. But it holds true everytime I say it.
You found a small bright gem and picked it up.
It may be just a few episodes, and now we also have a movie, but it burns every so brightly. Something I got from Blade Runner.

I won't guess how much you understand. You understand you have something special. That is enough. There many TV shows, movies, and books that will come your way. This site has people. We may not see each others faces or know our real names, but after I joined not to long ago I have had some of most wonderful experiences with the people on this site.

Learn, ask, but join in. Say your piece. We want to hear from you. We have different opinions. But a Browncoat is a Browncoat. You are a Browncoat.

I aim to welcome

Introducing myself and agreeing at the same time! I just finished watching the series for the first time on DVD last week and then watched the movie on cable the next night, and ordered the roleplaying game before seeing the movie :D I'm 32 with kids of my own and Firefly made me feel like a kid again!

It's a pencil and paper roleplaying game - if you've never played one they're a blast, and I can't imagine a better setting than the Firefly 'Verse. I have received the book now and it is quite shiny, it's the fourth printing with the index and character sheet. It's been out about since the movie came out, check out www.serenityrpg.com. I think it will be lots of fun to play, I have played a number of RPGs before and this seems pretty unique and the flavor seems right. Hopefully my crew will be together soon and I'll get to see how it plays out.
