I was channel surfing last night and saw it on HBO. They've been playing it a lot in the last few months. Anyway, I caught the last 30 minutes of the movie and after the fight with Mal and the Operative ends, Mal uses the Op's sword to hold him against the railing. The camera then goes back to the Op choking for air, then the camera goes back behind the Op, and that's when you notice, the sword is bent.
It gave me a small chuckle when I noticed that.

Never noticed his sword was bent, Serenity nevers fails to surprise me with something new everytime.

I also love the 'Fillionth'
I'm going to see Serenity tonight at the Parkway Speakeasy in Oakland...which I think makes it my fillionth and one time seeing the BDM!

Yeah, it was one of those spur of the moment things when I came up with "Fillionth" instead of Millionth. For some odd reason I thought of the Fillionairs when I was thinking of the title for this thread. I should probably be thanking them for the inspiration.

Two possible reasons:

1) When the Op tried to impale him on the ground and he rolled out of the way, then back towards the sword. I actually thought for the longest time that he had broken it there when trying to recall the fight scene.

2) Swords can be springy sometimes? I don't know how bent it was, so maybee what you're talking about is just beyond what it should be. Obviously, they used a fake sword for the scene, so I'm kinda grabbing at straws here.

I might go take a look, but I'm afraid to put Serenity in. I've probably gona longer than anyone on this forum without watching an episode of FireFly or Serenity because of how much it gets to me. I caught the end of the Sci-Fi maratho the other day... hearing that opening theme again made me tear up.

I thought the sword had been broken at that point, too. I agree that the springiness may have made it look bent because of the way it was used to hold the Op in place...tension against the railing, perhaps.
