In 2004, the Chicagoland Browncoats hosted the first ever Browncoat Ball in Chicago. In 2006, the San Francisco Browncoats carried on the tradition by hosting the second in what will be a long tradition of annual Browncoat Balls.

Like the Olympics, the ball will be held in a different city each year. Each year, any local browncoat group who would like to host the ball in their city will submit a pitch outlining the event they want to hold, and the city with the shiniest event plan will become the host city for that year.

With that in mind, we are now accepting bids for cities who wish to host the 2007 Browncoat Ball. We have written up postmortems for the 2004 and 2006 balls so you can see exactly what goes in to planning an event like this. And we have posted the guidelines for interested local Browncoat groups to write your pitches. You can find them both at http://www.browncoatball.com/future/

We will be accepting bids for hosting the 2007 Browncoat Ball from now until 15 January 2007, and will announce the new host city by the end of January.

When we announce the 2007 host, we will then begin accepting bids for cities who wish to host the 2008 ball, and will give them another month or two to get their bids in. This will the runners-up for the 2007 bids a chance to freshen up their pitches for the second round, and still give the 2008 group a hefty year and a half to plan their ball, which should make it much easier to book venues and get on people's calendars.

Please feel free to email us at bid2007@browncoatball.com or info@browncoatball.com with any questions you might have. We will undoubtedly have left something out of the postmortem, and we're more than happy to help you streamline your pitch between now and the submission deadline. Whatever it takes to inspire a 2007 Browncoat Ball that puts both its predecessors to shame and sets the bar for the 2008 ball to shoot for. :-)

Good luck!

Browncoat Ball Committee

(we apologize for the short notice. if you strongly feel you would like to host the 2007 ball and need a little more time, please contact us immediately at the above emails)
