So, here's my idea. I'm absolutely crushed that I'll potentially never see the continuation of the Firefly series or the Serenity movie, so perhaps due to recent comments by Joss we need to take new approaches. I propose a Hunger Strike. We refuse to eat until somebody picks up the show. Haha, yah, this sounds crazy, but it worked for Gandhi. It's kind of like that Peter Griffen stunt when he pretends Chris has a life threatening illness to bring Gumbel to Gumbel back. Who's with me? (Am I being serious? you decide)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

You know, as crazy as this sounds if I actually thought it had a glimmer of hope of succeeding I would do it in an instant. Seriously.

Assuming this is a semi-serious proposal, I'll give a semi-serious answer.

Back in the '60s, comedian and activist Dick Gregory went on a hunger strike for peace. It lasted for many years, since peace wasn't forthcoming immediately (he didn't eschew food completely, but went on a liquid-only diet, as I recall).

The point is, a hunger strike cannot lead directly to the result we want. After all, the stomach of the appropriate corporate executive isn't the one that's empty. All you can hope for is publicity and some level of sympathy from the people who matter (and we all know what big hearts the network programming people have, don't we?)

What we really need is a way to convince those executives that their own stomachs are empty, not ours. By that I mean we have to make them understand that giving us more of the 'verse would benefit their bottom line. A few nutty fans going on hunger strike is unlikely to do that.

Of course, if you do it, you might get yourself on Entertainment Tonight or Extra. But don't imagine that Joss will get The Call the next day.

I'm pointin' right at it!

DonCoat is right. This remains our only avenue to more of the 'Verse.

Money is the only language these folks understand.

Now we just need ideas that find a way to directly effect their spreadsheets.

Not that spreading the word it's ownself isn't doing a good job.... note all the new folks here since Christmas. That's the ticket to more folks and more 'Verse. We have to share this wonderful show and movie with people to the point that it becomes a household name.

The time of Ghandi was a different time,IMHO. Now folks watch other folks around the world suffer and starve with very little reaction. I'm afraid a group of fans starving for a little tv show might, as DonCoat said, be evening news, then it would fade away.

As much as I adore Firefly Serenity and the Verse, people go on hunger strikes for things like the genocide in Darfur or the end of the war in Iraq....not a TV show.
