Hi everyone,

The two part episode #50 of the 'Firefly Talk' podcast is now available for download at www.fireflytalk.com.

This week's episode is in two parts and includes......

The first half of an interview with Orson Scott Card, author of Enders Game & Enders Shadow (among others). The second half of the super-sized episode #50 has excerpts from all the contest winners, the entire winning article, and part 3 of 3 of our interview with Geoff Mandel and Tim Earls about the new QMx Serenity blueprints (and the making of Firefly/Serenity).  Many thanks to Quantum Mechanix and the Prop Store of London for helping make our contest happen!

The Question of the Week is, "Which prop from the movie Serenity would you most like to own, and why?" You can post your answer to the QotWeek area in our forum, email it, or call it in. Most answers are read or aired on the following week's 'cast.

The week's show notes will be up here...

This is only my 3rd podcast and I am so impressed with quality of your show.

This last podcast with Orson Scott Card is wonderful. He is opinionated and, therefore, very interesting.

I just started listening to the 2nd half and lost it somewhere in my computer (I'm still a little unsure on how to best listen to podcasts) but I enjoyed the parts of the 1st two articles that you read. I wanted to hear the whole of each article. I hope that you have links to these somewhere.

Thanks for such a pleasurable way to relive my joy in Firefly.

To paraphrase Kaylee: Whedon's Firefly is just so lush. I want to take a bite out of it all over, you know?

Isn't he the greatest? I just love it that he thinks Serenity is the best scifi movie ever made!

All the articles will eventually be read in full on future episodes of Firefly Talk. And the best way to listen to any of the podcasts it to use one of the free music/media software clients like iTunes, or any of the ones here at this link:

I use iTunes, which is here:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

...but have heard good things about iPodder & a couple others also. They're technically called 'aggregators' or often 'media aggregators". They let you subscribe & unsubscribe to any podcasts you want - that way you'll get them automatically and they'll always be in the same place so you won't have to go looking for them. You can get the podcasts manually with these aggregators also. I like iTunes because I use a Mac and it also comes with many different radio stations already loaded into it and I often listen to radio on my computer. I live up in the CA mountains & we don't get many radio stations up here.

Glad you're enjoying the podcast!

Rachel

Thanks for the help with podcasts. I figured out what I was doing wrong.

I'm also from CA mountains. I'm in Humboldt co. I have to use satellite to access the internet so I'm concerned about bandwidth. Any ideas on how to minimize usage so that I can download back shows and go hog wild with Firefly?

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the show so much.

The interview with Orson Scott Card will continue over the next two podcasts. And yes, it's fun talking to someone with such strong opinions, especially from such a talented writer. And especially when he validates your personal addictions!

Wow, good question - not sure about the answer though. All the Firefly Talk podcasts are so good! And it's lots of fun to listen to the back episodes. Maybe you can just get them little by little? I'm in South Lake Tahoe which I guess isn't quite as remote as some of the areas in the N. CA Humbolt area. I'm able to get high speed cable where I am so I don't have to worry about access. I think it comes in from the Northern NV area for us up here.

Good luck on that though. It's definitely worth DLing the back casts - and it certainly helps with our Firefly addiction!

Be well! Rachel

Oh well, I'll try not to mind too much. At least, that way I'll have something to anticipate every couple of days for a good long while. Thanks!
