Ya know, I watched a couple of the episodes on tv when it was going, and I kinda liked it. At the time, I was (and still am) a hugh fan of Farscape. So when I heard that Firefly was cancled, I was a tad bit upset, but that was life. Well, that was then.

I got the dvds last Tuesday, and just got done watching all of it today. Something happend when I started watching it. From the very first episode, I found myself enjoying it more and more and more. I couldnt wait ta watch the following episode. I couldnt believe how much I was enjoying it! It was fantastic! I have never laughed out loud as much as I did watching Firefly, then on ANY other sci-fi series. Heck, I thought ya couldnt get any better then Farscape. Firefly proved me wrong. When I finished watching the dvd's, I was sad. No more Firefly. I mean, I was seriously pissed! How can a show as great as this one, get canceled, and the crap that is on tv now, stay on? I cant figure it out.

Well, I hope they make that movie that was rumored to be made, cause I already miss it, and I just started watching it. I plan on showing EVERYONE I know these dvds. Heck, who knows, maybe, just maybe someday, Firefly will fly again. I tell ya this, I am very much looking forward to that day if it comes.

Winners come and go,
but legends? Now they're forever.

I am 100% with you. I am only up to the eighth (seventh) episode and I am loving this series!

I am also realizing that it is going to end for me soon, and it does tick me off to say the least!

I really should have never bought this set because it was a no-win situation: either I'd hate it and have wasted my money, or loved it and been left hanging. Well, the latter applies.

Only 1/2 way through and I'm going to say that this is my 3rd favorite scifi series of all time, and that is actually remarkable. I have to give it #1 in the cast department as I like the entire crew and even with my favorite series, there were a couple regulars I disliked!

I'm not a die hard Joss Whedon fan but I have to give him kudos for what he has done with FireFly. It is relatively believable, edgy, funny-as-hell, and a show that is 'smartly' written. I cannot express enough how rare 'smart' is in today's TV market. No wonder it got cancelled! It was too good...

You can't imagine how gratifying posts like these are to those of us who've been here since the beginning. I just hope its a trend. For over a year now we've been aboard the Serenity wondering why no one else noticed. Well, there are plenty of reasons for that but now that the DVD's are out there I think things are really going to take off. Hell the following's been building steadily since the cancellation purely on word of mouth and internet downloads. I think if we give these DVD's a few months to make the rounds the call for Firefly's return will be loud enough to get things going again.

Thanks for posting.

Already used the DVDs to infect one poor unsuspecting soul. Actually it was my son's doing, one of his friends had never heard of the show, and seeing as I just bought the set (And reminded the kids that just because daddy has one set does not mean he wouldn't appreciate another come Dec 25) and it was sitting in the DVD player, he played Serenity and Train Job for his friend.

The kid loved it. Afterwards told the son that his friend hadn't even seen the best episodes even. That it only gets better:)

I have watched the complete set several times, with and
without the comentary and I agree with everyone so
far....this series has to continue. A movie, a mini-series,
a book....hell even an animated version. I wonder how
well the dvd sets are selling. Among the fan base I'm sure
it's huge, but if more people bought this set that could
convince the powers that be that this is something the
public wants.

Perhaps everyone should be reminded that all good things must come to an end. It is what we do with good things that really matters.

It'd be nice to see it actually get started before we work out how to deal with its end. But I see your point.

Frankly, one reason I can't STAND Farscape was that everyone is so damn serious. I mean, the bad guy looks like Freddy Kruger, now THAT is funny!

That's just shiny!

You know whats crazy? I've been telling friends about the show and every one of them answers the same way, "Oh, its good? Never heard of it."

I didn't realize how poorly Fox had botched the marketing of Firefly. Its good to see new people discovering the show and LOVING the show.

These Firefly Virgins have an advantage over us: they're seeing the shows in the correct order, in widescreen, as they were meant to be seen. This is an experience that none of us will ever know. I wonder how is changes your perception of the show?

Ya know thats funny. I always thought Farscape had a lot more humor in it then most sci-fi shows. Found myself laughing a lot. Though I must agree, that scorpios does look like Freddie Kruegar. lol. The bad guys in Firefly do seem ta have a lot more character to them. Niska, Early, Saffron, Badger, and so on. Great villans.

The neet thing about Firefly, is that it does something that, just about no other sci-fi series in space does. It has no aliens. That is VERY different, and unique. I love that. Instead of focusing on the different alien speicies, they just concentrate on the crew, and man, that works soooooo well. I think thats great.

I would agree about the alien thing, like on Star Trek there's a new exotic alien on every rock (almost always amazingly humanoid, but that's another story...). I think we may find when we DO get out there, the galaxy will be a lot more empty than that.

The thing I like about it is the stellar writing. I don't even watch Star Trek anymore because of the shoddy writing, as if they only have hormone junkie teenage writers that only can write about T&A. I mean the first episode of "Enterprise" had this gratuitous pan of the Vulcan first officer's body that was just WAY overboard. And I don't think Seven-of-nine was hired onto the Voyager cast because of her acting ability as much as for her stack.

I read alot of star trek books, ya I know, not another trekkie, but you simply cannot believe how many good stories are out there. However, none of them seem to make it onto the desks of the programming execs for Star Trek anymore.
