So, my box set i bought a few years ago has been thoroughly loved, worn, lent, and watched. Many discs don't play well because of scratches and disc two has disappeared. I'm obviously ready to buy a new box set, however i heard there was a annual event where everyone ordered firefly from amazon to push it to the top of the list. Is this true? If so could someone tell me when it is because i would like to hold off replacing them until then. Even though my serenity works fine i figure i'll get the special edition that day too.

Thanks,
-Keir

Although no official word has been given yet, there are definite rumblings that the Firefly DVD may be rereleased soon in the upgraded higher definition format that just recently won the HD war.

Such new release could provide a great guerilla marketing push to promote Firefly. I do agree that it's always a good day to buy a Firefly DVD, but there's nothing like a shiny new release to add an extra boost behind it and enhance any blurbs the studio itself may release. This promotion combo can go a long way to reaching new folk about the 'Verse.

I'll take any ray of hope... in this case, a ray that's a blue colored one...

LMAO, won the hd war...and the losers...everyone but Sony. You know the ones who destroy your computer if you try to put your music on your mp3 player? Honestly though, I'd rather steal than give Sony my money or Microsoft (not downing the product just pissed at them for what they personally did to me, interested? ask)In fact I probably will just rent them from Netflix and put them on a HD. At least it will be affordable to put everything on 300G of HD space compared to one BR player and the actual disc. What a rip off. Not to mention that this whoel hd crap mean that we are losing our publicly owned airwaves, i.e. our right to free speech for higher resolution television and absolutely NO guaranteed gain. All this over the color of the laser beam. Sorry touchy subject when it comes to our rights and people trying to limit what we can see, say and hear.

11th..LOL at your banner. I love that it says complete first season, kinda sounds like it's implying a second. Ah we can dream right?
When there are no heroes where will we turn?

I can understand how the HD subject can be touchy. I also get an uncomfortableness at the prospect of the end of regular broadcast TV and the forced move to all digital. The rebel guerilla marketer, fringe planet dweller, and questioner of authority, likes to have options kept open... and I rather like the old fashioned idea of, if I want to, being able to pop a couple of rabbit ears on my TV and still getting the signal.

All the arguments over various technology and different platforms, corporate and government control and infiltration into so many aspects of our lives aside... purchasing the rerelease of the Firefly DVD will contribute to more from the 'Verse... at least until Joss could somehow wrestle the rights back again and produce more episodes as an independent. Now THAT would be cool!

Heh... yes, that's definitely on purpose. But it's not so much to imply a second season as perhaps, a seventh season? Yep, we sure can dream, can't we.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, at $19.99 a pop at most places you could buy it any time.

I normally buy several spaced out through the year as gifts or loaners, and then pick up several on Serenity Day to assist with the effort. It is a good idea to do it on this one day so as to draw more attention with our concentrated efforts.
