Considering the train wreck that is their flagship program, maybe they might prefer something that is actually loved by people. And appeals to a wider audience than Vulcan ear wearers and gorram Klingon quoters.

I know UPN already turned Firefly down once, but now, maybe a large enough effort could prompt them to reconsider? I ran across this in a "Save Enterprise" thread--like a good Sheppard I see it as my duty to walk among the lost--and I thought that perhaps we could use this for our own shiny purpose.

A few addresses for important people at UPN and Paramount:

Good point. UPN should drop Enterprise and go with Firefly. I certainly wouldn't mind.

And I think a series like Firefly would add more credibility to the network as a whole.

Remember how good ST:TNG got after Roddenberry died? I think the same thing needs to happen for Enterprise. Only way to save Enterprise is to kill off Berman & Braga.

I have mixed feelings about UPN getting Firefly, but they are strictly local concerns. Our local UPN affiliate also carries the Red Wings games and there are a lot of pre-empts. Hockey is just a teensy bit on the popular side here in Detroit. *snicker*

Our local UPN has truly shitty reception. Sorry for the cussin', but there really is no other way to describe it. Truthfully, I would hate to see a wonderful show like Firefly picked up by a crappy station like UPN.

Although it would be nice for some of us if it would be aired on network TV.

There are still those of us who don't have cable or satellite TV.

I'd hate to have to spring for cable. Although I would if that was the only way to get my Firefly fix.

Heck, I just wish it was a legitimate concern at this point.

UPN and everyone else foolishly passed on picking up Firefly. They would have been far wiser to do as you've all suggested and dump Enterprise and pick up Firefly, but noooo...

Personally, I wouldn't care where Firefly ran, as long as it came back. Cable, network, it wouldn't make any difference. Know why? 'Cause for one thing I download 90% of the TV I watch off Bittorrent, and even if I couldn't do that it would be out on DVD and I could watch it then. Either scenario is far, far better than no Firefly at all.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

UPN would not necessarily be the worst option for Firefly, even though they turned it down to focus their attention on Enterprise. Definitely a big mistake on their part.

Other than the fact that there are quite a few Browncoats without the benefit of cable or dish would have to spring for it or go without their Firefly fix, it would be great to see the show back on the little screen.

I don't watch UPN as there are no shows on it that appeal to me since Buffy left the air, but I would watch it for Firefly. Hell, I would watch Fox if they aired it.

UPN is a crappy station (well, i have no idea what's on the station, but it can't be good itf they turned down firefly), esp scense i don't get it. But as much as I would hate to spring for statelite or cable, I think it would be realy great to see firefly an HBO, an hour everyweek, comercial free...ahhh, that sounds nice...

Hell, if Fox picked FF back up, I'd go one step further- They put Firefly back on, and I'll watch any two of their reality shows faithfully, no matter how crappy or degrading they are- You hear that Fox execs? Any two -

Wow, sevenpercent, that's a huge concession...More than I think I could ever stomach. You are so brave.

UPN won't take Firefly, though. Why? It's not "safe television". It's not a tried and true formula that will at least make solid middle-of-the-road ratings. That's basically the only kind of programming UPN wants, which is why they have nothing interesting to offer a viewer with an IQ over 75.

sorry to maybe bust a bubble, but i'm sure most of you know UPN will never show this show.

why? it's not a big ratings getter to them, they'll go by what fox said etc, and it's far too expensive to take a risk on.

ENT is getting better, which is a good thing for it, but i personally think Star Trek will survive better if moved of a network and moved into cable tv or synidcation. that's where it's thrived in the past, that's where it's best kept. Firefly would probably also do much better ther e(look at adromeda and mutant x getting good ratings in syndication)

The sci fi channel wont buy firefly either (despite showing it in the uk and it getting very good ratings for the channel over here) the sci fi channel already has a lot on it's plate. Stargate sg-1, stargate: Atlantis, Battlestar galatcia, developing a new series of quantum leap (yay) amongst other things.

Quantum Leap is being revived as a telefilm in 2004/2005 by the Sci-Fi Channel. It was announced in July 2002 by Bonnie Hammer.

It is now known that the film will be called Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward. The writers are Donald P. Bellisario and Trey Callaway (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer). They are also both the executive producer of the film.

If the telefilm is received well, then that will open the doors to the long awaited sixth season of Quantum Leap.

PLOT SUMMARY from IMDB.com....

Quote:

"Twenty years after the original series left Dr. Sam Beckett "leaping" into the great unknown, Sam is finally reunited with Al, his old mentor and "partner in time." But when circumstances beyond their control send Sam away once more, Al must recruit his lost friend's daughter to pick up where her father left off and hopefully help find Sam again in the process."
