Okay, I know the characters and all, but which are the regular characters ie. Buffy, Xander, Willow
and which are more recurring ie. Clem, Tara(until ep119), Troika.

The cast list was of like almost ten characters, Jossy aint starting with that many is he?

Sry all, I'm confused.

Well, the regular cast will be...

Mal, played by Nathan Fillion
Wash, played by Alan Tudyk
Zoe, played by Gina Torres
Kaylee, played by Jewel Staite
Inara, played by Monica Boraccidnjagkfajkbfd (I don't exactly know how to spell this...)
Book, played by Ron Glass

Jayne will be a Recurring Guest Star, played by Adam Baldwin

FYI, the regular cast for Buffy, season 1 was

Buffy
Willow
Xander
Giles
Angel
Cordelia

With recurring characters being The Master, Darla, and The Annointed One.

So... the regular cast will be about the same size for both shows...

As for why you were confused... well...

Actually, Angel was a reaccuring character in season one, only being in half the episodes and not named in the opening credits. [ /nitpick]

I heard a rumor (way back when the character list was first announced) that Book was also going to be reaccuring, but I'm not sure if that's still true or ever was.

A lifetime of things to say, all rushing to be said at the same time... doesn't bode well for my voice.

Er...is this a spoiler about the fate of the Amazing Tams, or did you just forget them?

Anyway, to chip in my $.02: I'd figured Joss would be playing it in the great Star Trek tradition--have an exorbitantly large cast of characters, but ignore all but two unless the episode focuses on them.

Well, why not? It's a different show, different premise, different a lot of things. The biggest difference is that Buffy is the title character, and motivates almost everything that happens. I doubt if anybody will dominate Firefly the same way.

Besides, Whedon couldn't have hired more actors for the first season of Buffy even if he'd wanted to. It was a mid-season replacment nobody expected to succeed. And on a dying network. Not something that gets deep pockets.

Which is too bad, actually. I really like the two bad guys, The Master and The Chosen One. But with a short season they had to kill off The Master before they could fully use him. (Interesting that the same actor has been hired for season 7.) And by the time the network got around to ordering more eps, the kid who played TCO was too old for the part. Very sad.

I'm not inclined to believe the Metcalf casting. It seems to me a rumor born out of Joss' "back to the beginning" comment being taken too literally. I think it more likely he was hired to voice the Master for BUFFY ANIMATED.

Yeah, that makes sense. And it will let them use all the stories that got unused because of . But what's with the [ spoiler ] tag? It's not as if either of us actually knows anything!
