MsA is stuck in training again, was a whirlwind getting ready this morning, and still has a cough. I feel like a complete wuss whining about work after watching her.

Glad I can't see her working so I can still whine. It makes work slightly more bearable if I complain about it.

ROTFLMAO... I look like a wimp next to the man who walks 9 miles with a friend, then moves heavy furniture, then works on fixing a car, then collects materials for decoys.

yup training ( well in theory training..more like repetitive information and mutual agreement meeting)

NV I promise the whirlwind will not happen tomorrow. I'm picking up an alarm clock( ours is ineffective due to bizzare random power outages)

I don't know how some people pull this stuff off. A friend of mine does this at least twice a month where she takes an insanely long lunch. She topped her own record today with a 3 hour and 37 minute lunch. She went to an appointment with a financial planner. The thing is she doesn't make up the time she just leaves at her normal time. How does she never get reprimanded from her manager?

She has to search really hard to find someone she doesn't look like a wimp next to :-P

Of course I had other work related business so I got to write out that time and the trip back.

It's kind of crisp and fall like.. really hoping for Christmas we will get snow

Ok here's a ponder... does it still feel like Christmas if it isn't snowy??

I'd say still a bit Christmas due to activities, but it really needs snow for the full effect

I'm guessing it depends on where you grew up. Since I was born in CA and my first 7 Christmases had no snow I don't mind no snow at all. In fact I sorta prefer it. No snow usually means warmer. I like warm way more than I like cold.

I think I would also have to go with no snow. Growing up in Oregon it was always fun when it did end up snowing -- I remember one year when I was the last of the kids up, helping my parents wrap presents late on Christmas Eve, when we looked outside and realized it had been snowing for awhile. It snowed pretty heavy through the night, and was a nice surprise for my siblings on Christmas morning.

Now that I'm an adult though, I can see all the downsides of snow too. Hubby grew up in Wyoming, and is quite glad to live in a place where we get snow about once every 100 years. In fact, I had gone nearly a decade without even seeing snow, until I went to Utah for my brother's wedding last January. I don't handle the cold well, I tend to be less dexterous in the winter anyway, so if I can avoid being out in snow/sleet/ice, I'm much happier. We fly into Austin on Christmas Eve every year, so if it wants to start snowing after that I'm fine with it, since we won't leave the house for a few days anyway. I would rather have a white Christmas than a warm (75 degrees+) Christmas, but 45 and and cloudy is fine with me too.

So how is everyone's Christmas shopping going? I'm getting close to done, though I need to get a couple of things for hubby still. It's his birthday today though, so I've been focused on that. It's weird, his birthday has always been two weeks before Christmas (duh), but each year it feels like that's a shorter and shorter time period...

I have a few things to cap off shopping for someone (don't know who ) and there is a few things for the family I still have to find. I'm trying real hard not to buy any toys for the kids but there are some truly awesome things at the local ranch supply/hardware store that kids just love. As a plus I drew the department boss for the secret Santa dealy and there is always something for her to bich about so my gift, regardless of how cool, will probably suck.

I do still have some money left over from the inlaws gift cash so some of it will have to go for ME gifts.

YAY ME!

For example you find out your boss has secretly asked co-workers to forward all the emails that get sent from your department.. do you tell her boss or just ignore it?

Hey all. Stopped by here to say hi and got sidetracked by another fucking "fan-made Firefly MMOG" thread, which finally prompted me to come of the closet and say what I do for a living. I design MMOGs for a living, and have for a very long time. The number of people who think they can somehow do a better job than the professionals drives me batty, and this particular topic just hit me in the wrong mood.

Every other time I've talked about my professional career online, I've been mobbed by questions and request, so if I disappear for awhile that's why. All my work is still under very strict NDAs, which is another reason I just avoid talking about it, but seriously these people need to shut up and sit down.

Sigh, anyway. I went to the company Christmas party on Friday, and somehow managed to get my dress completed in time. I know a couple of people were taking pictures at the party but I haven't seen any of me yet. If nothing else I'll put the dress back on and take pictures myself and post them here, if anyone is still interested.

And now I am off to do a bit more Christmas shopping. I had the perfect gift picked out for hubby, and then found out that my parents already bought him something similar. Sigh, it just really isn't my day today.

Oh and MsA, I would totally tell her boss. That shit is unacceptable. But then I'm in a bad mood, so maybe don't trust my opinion right now.

MMORPG = massively multiplayer online role playing game. Basically thousands or millions of people all playing a never ending game of Dungeons and Dragons together online. MMOG is used as a less role playing specific acronym, or to include other massively multiplayer games, like RTS (real time strategy), FPS (first person shooter), simulations, sports, etc. I've worked with the guy who coined the term MMOG/MMORPG back in the mid 90s.

FLT, I'm totally jealous on the FPS front. Like a lot of women, FPSs make me terribly nauseous. Some of the less jerky ones I can play for about a half an hour before I start to get motion sick, but others like Portal (which I *really* wanted to play!) made me sick just glancing at hubby's screen while he played. Sigh. I've heard you can train your brain out of the motion sickness, but it takes a lot of time and consistency, both things that I'm typically short on.

ugh, so now im watching my eleven year old toy poodle try to sneak his way around my parents house (where he lives, family dog) after eating god knows how much chocolate out of a bag my mother left on the floor. he's been puking for about an hour and a half/two hours now, and wont stay in the kitchen where its easy to clean up. he keeps running to the carpet to puke and i have to chase him and drag him back to the kitchen to throw up there. im doing this while im trying to make dinner cuz neither of the rents are home, but he wont stay and is being a very bad boy about it.

so now i've tied him by his leash to the handle on the oven door, which is juuuuuuust far enough in the kitchen that he cant reach any carpeted surfaces @_@

he's currently standing at the extent of his leash by the nearest piece of carpet in the house (just baaaaaarely out of his reach, thankfully) and is making odd noises probably because his throat hurts and he still feels sick >< but the stubborn thing wont come back to give himself some slack on the leash. i feel sorry for the poor thing, but my god he's not cooperating @_@
