Hey, I'm new to the fourms, sup. Anyway, was thinking of running of firefly RPG using a customized version of the silouette rules by Dream Pod 9 (Heavy Gea, Jovian Chronicles, ect.)

So, I was looking around the net for resources to use. I've found http://members.ispwest.com/radiojoe/game/
http://webpages.charter.net/anjinm/g_risus.htm
plus the information on this site.
I was wondering if there are any good sources I'm missing, and if there is a good free source of ship designs which fit the firefly universe. Thanks

Back in the days when "D and D" was all the rage,
one of it's lesser known competitors was an RPG known as "Traveler".
The traveler and firefly universes are remarkably similar. As in firefly, the planets in
traveler were at a variety of "tech levels". Also,
it was possible to create characters with a variety
of backgrounds (military backgrounds were normaly
chosen for the mustering out pay, experience, and
contacts).
Before you go to the trouble of creating an entire RPG from scratch, you should check out this
game. Only slight modifications, if any, will be needed to duplicate the TV show exactly.

Good Luck

Actually, the system works really well. Heavy gear is based on the varying tech level principle, except it leans more towards the nerual-net computer, and less towards the rifle n' boat philosophy of Firefly, and it has a very nice vehicle creation system, and silhouette is a damn fine game system if you ask me.

But... I do need things like ship layouts, lists of firefly universe compatible guns, ect. Any sources you guys know of?

Look in the 'Blue Sun Room' there are some FANTASTIC deck plans of the Serenity by Gaidheal.

Other things as well, that might help.

I posted elsewhere on the site that I am actually Playtesting a Firefly RPG I put together over the last few weeks. I got about 30 pages of notes of everything in the 'Verse and I used Eden Publishing's Buffy The Vampire Slayer RPG rules. I thought that the simplicity of the game system and the synergy of using a Mutant Enemy RPG as rules for another Mutant Enemy show was the right idea.

I did a lot of research for what I needed, much of which came from this site actually. Combined with my extensive experience in RPGs I think I have a really decent game available.

Let me know how yours goes!

I Believe that DP9's Silouette rules would be the best system to base a FireFly RPG off of.
Now that they released the core rules as an individual book it shuold be easier to modify to fit the 'verse.
