This is both for those who read the last thread and those just finding this one. I've taken it upon myself to try to facilitate a meet by conveying information from the Browncoats on meetup.com, since many seem reluctant to sign up there. Apparently, I have extra time on my hands. What day of the week and what part of town would be best for you? Don't be shy. We don't bite....much.

For my part, I'm okay with Sun-Wed, basically any time (though I do have goats to milk at 7), I'd prefer Chesterfield/southside or downtown. Perhaps Babes of Carytown? Friendly atmosphere, live music (that you can still talk over) and amazingly good food for a bar.

And you can pop by and visit me at the 17th St Farmers' Market every Thursday and some Saturdays.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Any who live in the Richmond, VA or surrounding area can join the Meetup discussions here:

http://firefly.meetup.com/boards/374

We would really like to have a meetup in Sept, even if it is "unofficial". Four or five people would be great, but we can do it w/ as few as three I suppose.

I am available in time in Sept except the 1st through the 7th as I will be out of town attending Dragon Con. After that I am available anytime Mon - Fri from 6pm until 9pm. Saturdays and Sundays anytime after 9am until 6pm.

So sound off Richmond browncoats! Give us some input.

The Market was badly damaged. The pavilion is still standing, but the enormous wooden raisers that we put our wares on all washed away like empty coffee cups. The plan to reopen next Thursday, with the vendors bringing their own tables.

For anyone who wants an idea of what happened, check out the video on this news article. http://www.nbc12.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WWBT%2FMGArticle%2FWBT

where it actually says "watch video", not the camcorder icon (though you can watch those videos too).

Hi Mary,

I'm glad I got the chance to come say hello to you last week, it doesn't look like I'll be able to access 17th St. for awhile, the devastation is heartbreaking to see. Wishing you and all the other shop-keepers a speedy clean-up and back to business !

Just wanted to let the local yokels know that the Farmers' Market is supposed to be open again starting Thursday 9/9. I will be down there, of course, though more for solidarity than money, I'm sure. Y'all sure at least come down and rubber-neck in the warzone. (Twoblueeyes, you know I don't mean for you to come down. Likely to be harder than ususal.)
