Well, I guess Zazzle was just waiting until my orders had shipped to close my account. Just tried to log in and was denied.

How annoying that they won't even contact you to let you know why they closed your account.

Gojiro, I got my "Fillion Teaser" T-shirt yesterday. YAYYYYYY!!!! I'll be going to the MeetUp in New York City this weekend, and there will be photos taken, so I'll be sure to show off the shirt. It came out beautifully! Thanks for all the hard work and the wonderful design.

great job!

Man, I'm so glad. Now that Zazzle has completely closed my account, I was afraid any outstanding orders would be cancelled. Glad you got it, and I'm glad you enjoy it! That's the one image I got on a t-shirt before they shut me down.

Thanks!

You know, my understanding was that Cafepress was a lot less vigilant about that sort of thing. ;) Perhaps you might try to create an account there? I would LOVE a Serenity poster tshirt thingy. :D

uh, no, that's NOT true...there have been a few other Cafe Press shops that have been shut down because they also used images of the ship, the actors, and other trademarked items. The low down is that you CAN NOT use pictures (even if they are your own artwork) of any person without their permission on CP. I do have a CP Browncoat shop (see below), but am careful to not cross that line, as much as I'd love to. I have some designs using the cast images, but will only produce those for myself and friends, or make available for iron ons only.

Well, I bought some stuff from a Cafepress site in May and the only reason that was shut down was that it was pointed out that the actors involved may have an issue with it, and the owner or the store shut it.

Unless Cafepress get a cease and desist order or something, they wouldn't have done anything was what we were told at the time.

I'm just saying is all.

That could be, but I know of at least one site on CP that was shut down without the owner's knowledge, and it took quite awhile to get CP to admit that it was a copyright issue. The store owner may be telling the public that *they* chose to close the site, but I'm pretty certain that CP forced it closed. CP doesn't want to get sued, so they, just like Zazzle, is going to shut down anything that even smells like copyright violation.

The thing that annoyed me about that whole situation was that there were designs on that site that were not in violation of copyright, and they removed all those designs as well...so you can see why it's not a good idea to throw a few "iffy" designs up just to see how long you can get away with selling them. Not only can they pull your other designs, they can keep you from opening other stores as well, or keep you under a bit closer watch in the future. I can't chance that, as I run stores that are fundraisers for some national charities - I'm just hoping CP doesn't decide to get hinky on the term "Browncoat"!
